that should be solved once CP or CN finish building their logistics park

If you want to know what kind of politician Ric McIver is, just look at the people he associates with. Wife Beater Steve Chapman, Homophobic fascist Craig Chandler, with a sprinkling of 32 year old virgin Rob Anders. God help us in McIver is mayor.

That's not fair - McIver is FOR mother's day, puppies, beer, the military and oxygen.

Well CN Rail will be moving the operations that are currently at their Sarcee Yard out near Conrich, so train traffic will decrease.

Besides, the mayor alone doesn't make these priorities, he/she can play a big part in that, yes, but it's not like someone will swoop in and cure all that ails a specific area of the city.

Yeah, Chandler is the big reason to stay away from McIver.

Well the masses will rejoice I guess!
As long as the West LRT still gets built, I don't care who's mayor...

That's already all underway. The feds put money in to fix it I think.

The city's project page.

I hope Diane Colley-Urqhart (sp?) runs... I've lived in her ward for years. I didn't like her at the start, because she's been very "whole city" and not "ward" centric, but as time went on I realized it was just because she's posturing and politicking. Good luck to her, I'll vote for her.

edit: If she runs, I'd think she's one of the front-runner... depending on which other current aldermen run.

Well, to be fair, he had a construction/development company before he went into politics, so he may return to that if he doesn't have provincial or federal aspirations.

Bronco's been in bed with developer's for awhile, as far as I know (which, admittedly, is kind of hearsay but I still believe it). Couldn't be happier to hear that he's on the way out.

Now hopefully there's some legitimate candidates in the next election. I've been voting for candidates other than Bronco the last 2 elections, but there's never been a fighting chance for any of them, really.

CP should put together a slate of candidates for Mayor and all of the Aldermen. Everyone around here knows what's wrong with the city, and I'm sure there are enough people spread around the city to field someone in each ward.

That description fits for most of council and probably whoever eventually wins the mayor's seat in October as well. I can't recall the exact figures, but I think over half of the campaign contributions for all the council members come from the development industry. That's not only a Calgary phenomenon either. Municipal politicians everywhere are usually well funded by either the development industry, unions, or both.

I have no idea who Craig Chandler is, but I would suggest submitting something to wikipedia about him being a facist as his page doesnt mention anything about that

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Chandler

I cant find anything about Steve Chapman.

I agree anyone who hangs out with Rob Anders is someone who likely isnt capable of running a city like Calgary.

Chandler believes that homosexuality is akin to murder in terms of morality. Oh, also he thinks homosexuals are mentally ill.
