I think I am missing something about rochette? I dont watch figure skating all to much. Why should she take the flag for a bronze performance? Not trying to say bronze is not an amazing accomplishment

Alex and Fred Bilodeau probably get the honor the country and media were charmed by this kids success and story.
Maelle Ricker come back from a massive injury to win Gold and she is a local to Vancouver.
Kristina Groves is the only multi medal winner Silver and Bronze.
Jon Montgomery because the dude is awesome.

Doubt hockey players in the gold medal game can do it, or be picked because the team got gold. I think that the flag bearer has to be set the day or so before the end.
The gold medal game is Sunday afternoon, and the Ceremonies start 2.5h after the game is done.
Bilodeau, unless someone else does something more memorable/historic in the mean time.

I think the whole cerebral palsy (or whatever his brother has) is touching but there is no way in hell a non-athlete should be anywhere close to the closing ceremonies/flag bearer.
Why not let Rochette's dad carry the flag then? Or any number of other athletes who have family members with ailments and such.
Bilodeau, yes. Him and his brother, not a chance in hell. The flag bearer should be a standout athlete, not his family members who inspire us because they have a condition.

I agree, I think it should just be the athlete
but they usually go for the sentimental/feel good story

Which is cool but no way should his brother be allowed anywhere near that flag.
Furthermore, just because he's close with his brother who cares? I'm sure all the athletes are close to their siblings. Are we going to let them carry the flag even though they are non-athletes? No? Why? Because they don't have a mental illness?
So far Bilodeau, Rochette (assuming she medals), Montgomery are the front runners in my books. Maybe even Virtue and Moir together.
