i hope babcock now realizes what an idiot he has been with his line combos. it is too late to talk about whether iggy hits or not. the reality is that our GF in the last 2 games is 2.5 and i don't think that will be enough to get it done.

How bad does adding Pronger to this team look line...it seems he's on the ice everytime the other team scores

Yeah, just a terrible pick by Hockey Canada. Guy is a second tier offensive player who has no experience in important games. This team really seems to be short on guys who have played AND contributed in huge games. In an elimination game, there is sane hockey person who would take Patrice Bergeron over Martin St. Louis. I was in the front row about 50 feet away at Game 6 in 04 when St. Louis scored in triple overtime.

Niedermayer has been about as bad if not worse. It was unreal watching the guy last Saturday in Calgary - he didn't just look like he wasn't trying, he actually was not trying. He may have won at every level but he is not the guy I would want on the front lines of a winner-take-all battle, certainly not with the way he has looked this season.

“Obviously, I like to hang onto it down low and use my size and reach,” said the six-foot-four, 205-pound Staal. “It's about being physical on the forecheck, using the back of the net. Jarome is one of those guys who if you find him he's got a great shot that can hit the back of the net from anywhere and Sid is good at that and good at cycling as well. It's about trying to get open and take it to the net when you can.”
“I played with Getzlaf at the world championships and it's just going to be more of a straight line kind of game,” said Nash. “It'll be a simpler kind of Western Conference style.

I think Bergeron was a very "Detroit Red Wings" selection he was brought for his versatility to play any and all positions.
I think Shane Doan would have played that role much better. Imagine a fourth line of Doan, Toews and Morrow......
and Stamkos should have been here ahead of Perry....to hell with Chemistry.....Stamkos at his age is a difference maker.....Perry isn't

Can't blames Bergeron for getting picked. Not his fault Yzerman thought he'd have chemistry with Crosby ... from five years ago ... after missing an entire season with concussion issues ...
Let's just hope he finds a role where he can excel -- do some serious work with Morrow on the forecheck and wear down oppostion D down low.
Part of Yzerman's mission was obviously to bring in the next generation. It's true Stamkos might have been a better choice in that regard, but while St. Louis is a better player, where does he play? I'd agree I'd love to see him replace Perry, but the familiarity argument isn't a bad one.
Bottom line, this group is more than good enough on paper to get it done (even with Pronger). It's time for them to get it together. They will.

Even if all he's good for is winning face-offs, I'm ok with that...

Looks like Nash is finally starting to have to own up to for his lack luster play. About time.
Quote:
Tinkering is his right, of course, but the onus to perform is on the players. Canada's goal scorers weren't brought here to go scoreless, after all. And no Canadian needs a goal more than Rick Nash.
Nash, the 25-year-old from Brampton, has been anointed a top-line winger in two straight Olympics now, but he has yet to score as an Olympian. That's nine Olympic outings without a goal for a player who has averaged a half a goal a game in his best NHL regular seasons.

I thought I heard on the fan earlier today that Canada will go to a more traditional 12 O, 6 D rotation.
If so, I see Bergeron and Pronger sitting.

But for some stupid reason Seabrook will sit rather than Pronger.
They both suck, but I'd rather have Seabrook than give-away Pronger.

totally agree with you...I think Yzerman should've gone with Bouwmeester and Green instead of Pronger and Neidermayer...Bouwmeester is more solid defensively than Pronger and Green would've added more offense from the blueline than Neidermayer

I wouldn't play Perry after Kesler made him look like a goof.
