Disappointing end, but good on the girls for coming back. Still a tie for first.

Disappointing for Team Kiprusoff...err Finland.
The guys in front of him really aren't providing any support. (Yeah Yeah, I know, same thing with his NHL team...real funny)

Canadian Men taking on Team USA in curling right now. Should be an easy win for a Canadian team curling very well over a struggling US team

Back to last night's curling for a second - anyone else find it funny that the Chinese women's curling team is based in LEDUC, ALBERTA??? Also, a lot of the coaches of the Asian teams are Canucks.

So even when China beats Canada, take heart that it is Canadians who are helping to beat us!

There are a ton of international curling teams with Canadian coaches.

I too thought it impressive that China based themselves in Leduc and dedicated their lives to this game. Wow.

Well when their government pays for them to play full time, it isn't a hard decision.
For me, watching a Canadian coach planning on how to defeat Canada, somehow seems wrong.

The Chinese government has a mentality when it comes to sports that they need to be the best in the world, no matter what it takes. And looky-look, it's starting to show.

They don't settle for mediocrity, they want to win everything at the Olympics, all the time. I am not surprised that the Chinese national team is based in Leduc, and are 100% dedicated to winning and being the best.

Must be nice to have funding at any cost to do that. I wonder what the general population thinks about that, given the social disparities they face at home. Me thinks they're okay with it, as long as they continue to win and become the best. Sometimes its scary to see how much China wants to stick it to the rest of the world in terms of being the best.

Me thinks they are ok with it if it avoids imprisonment for lack of patriotism.

Yes, China is the model of success that we should all follow.

Some things are more important than medals.

Like their general population has a choice of how the government spends their money. Chinese government does as they please and the people accept it or who knows what happens to them.

Yeah I'm sure all those impoverished people are fine with struggling to survive as long as their country wins some medals every 2 years.

It also helps to have 1.6 billion people to draw from. The top 0.1% of Chinese (athletically) number 1.6 million while Canada's top 0.1% numbers, say, 35,000. Sooner or later you're going to find some real gems in that large a group.

I agree, I just wonder what they think about that.

lol, I don't think a lot of you know the "chinese" mentality. There's a thing in the chinese language that's associated with "saving face." Meaning they have to have the best of everything. I'm sure some of you have been to China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and seen the rampant consumerism. Everything revolves around brand names, expensive cars, and the appearance of being wealthy. Even the poor emulate this trend. And when it comes to sports, the chinese are extremely proud of their presence on the world stage. Believe me, I hear enough of this over and over again, not just from my ex gf who's from Beijing, but from every chinese I've ever talk to from China.

Good result overall, but as usual, lacking that extra gear when it was needed.

Yeah, that 21 year old Canadian should've easily run down Norway's World Champion in that last leg.

Awesome result for Canada. Contrary to popular belief, there are events where you can have a good result and not win a medal. It wouldn't have been a shock if Canada didn't even qualify for the finals and they end up in 4th. What a disappointment they are.
