The only problem now is the Flames don't have Phaneuf. That guy was probably the best defenceman in the game. Hard shot, pretty fast and could HIT like crazy. Every hit he could take a guy down. Now I have White that can't even take a fly down.

I'm 4-0 playing online with the new Flames. I can actually score now.

Rosters -> Player Movement
Open up Calgary, NYR

Click on Jokinen, Sjostrom (Should appear at the bottom of the screen)
Click on Higgins, Kotalik (Should appear at the bottom of the screen)
Hit "X"

Save Rosters

Also, does anybody else find Erik Johnson is absolutely AMAZING in this game? I mean, he's better than Bouwmeester in almost every regard, has A- Potential, and can score goals pretty well.

Jack Johnson is the hardest hitter in this game. Injures almost everyone he hits. It's fantastic.

Good game oscar. You're one great player.

PS: That game where you were Edmonton should have been a disallowed goal. The refs blew that one

You too. You've gotten better since we last played. I'm not great. Jayems is great.

The goal by Gagner was close. Had to see the replays and Toronto got it right by letting the goal stand...

Weird. I love how angry people get when you beat them though. It's even better when they play as the Canucks.

I have a Xbox 360, but people do this to me all the time when I am leading. They did the same thing in NHL 08 and 09. It says I lose connection to the EA Servers, then my xbox live crashes. Yet my internet on my computer (wireless as well) still works perfectly.

I can't play this game anymore. I think it's a step backwards for next generation hockey games. Slow as hell, constant glitches, computer taking chincy penalties 4-5 times a game, being 5 feet ahead of a guy with someone like Kane but the defenceman being able to pin you against the board even if your essentially on a breakaway, brutal AI (could spring a guy for a breakaway but they decide to stop at the blue line and peel off), and the fact that the only way to win a game is to pokecheck continuously.

Same old crap to me. Was fun for a bit, but it's run its course for me.

What are the constant glitches? And the computer takes 4-5 penalties a game? I've gone several games without taking a single penalty. The board pin thing is annoying. I don't get the pokecheck/ stick lift hate, in real hockey players are constantly stick checking each other. Learn to protect the puck. I also agree that the offensive AI needs work.

If you guys don't like this game, I'd just stop buying the NHL series. The game is the best hockey game ever released, it's extremely realistic and has amazing freedom of controls for a sports game. No game in the near future will be able to recreate hockey perfectly. So just be happy that this game comes pretty damn close.

the worst part of this game is online, i swear there is an even up feature for goaltenders. if you are kicking your opponents teeth in, just watch how good their goaltender gets and how bad yorus gets. i dont bother playing online anymore cuz i cant handle beating someones brains in 2-1 shots 2-1 hits and be hasek'd by their tender

Extremely realistic? Players in hockey do not sit there jabbing at the puck with one hand on their stick. If you play anyone that is any good, their players look like the paddles of a pin ball machine. They also aren't able to take people that are 5 feet ahead of them with a full head of steem into the boards from behind.

You must be kidding me about the glitches. wrap arounds, the long wrist shot, the slapshot from the top of the circles, the ability to draw the computer into taking a penalty, ability for online players to crash your XBOX, etc....

Learn to protect the puck? I'd venture that outside of Jaeyns, there would be very few people on this board that could beat me in a game of it, let alone a series. I never take penalties (although anytime I play anyone half decent, the computer likes to take 4-5 for me).

This game is a lamer version of 2009 which was a revolutionary game. It's 2009 at half the speed, with some annoyances added that take away from the autheticity of the game (IE. the joke board play, and poke fest). When's the last time to seen an NHL player pin himself to the board as an move to get around a defender i the offensive end?

The AI online is only a tiny step up from the old genisis games.

Go watch a game of NHL hockey and look at how active their sticks are. Pokechecking needs work I won't deny it, but if you show the puck to a defender in the NHL, there's going to be a stick on the puck. NHL players are just really, really good at protecting the puck.

Wrap-arounds need work but are hardly a glitch. Wraparounds are hard to stop, and it's something defenders work very hard to prevent. But, yes, I agree, they work too well in this game. The goalie AI also needs work on those long wristers and slap shots, I agree. But I don't think you realize how difficult it is to make goaltender AI. They can't stop ALL the wristers, so they have to let in some, but which ones? Until AI reaches the level that the goalie can actually think for itself and is not just operated on probability, you will have glitches like that. So it just lower your expectations a bit. This game is developed quite well and is, relatively speaking, extremely realistic.

I'm not too shabby myself. I've played against several of the absolute best and beaten some of them. I can play with anyone. I'm sure you are wonderful too, so don't come back with "yeah so have I and I could totally take you" because I don't care.

i think a lot of it depends on what mode people play. i have found online versus games pretty dull because it feels so nerfed compared to playing eashl. i find that mode most rewarding as you have to play smartest as you can't just take stupid chances and then change guys when it doesn't work. it challenges you to play good hockey. additionally, the speed and other settings seems to be set up a bit better in that mode. but maybe i am just imagining things. for offline GM mode players, the ability to tweak so many settings really makes it a game where you can have it play the way you want. obviously you can't make up for all the AI shortcomings, but you can often tweak the settings to minimize a lot of issues. i think the biggest problem with online is that people are ######bags. they exploit and cheat as much as possible. and that it what really ruins the game. one thing EA i think should do in regards to the EASHL gameplay, is to make computer goalies considerably worse. the game should reward teams that use a manual goalie. right now, there is still a pretty small amount of teams that use a manual goalie if they don't have 6 people. i think if you make the AI goalie poor in EASHL, it will encourage humans to pick goalie more often. that has 2 benefits: it encourages people to play goal and they will get better at it, and it makes exploits less of a problem as you can't really exploit a human.

That happens offline too. Be a GM mode is killing the offense off my team. The shots could be 30-3 and the game will still end 2-0 (More noticeable if you leave the game in "Pro" difficulty).

Nhlseries needs a serious overhaul. It's not nearly as advanced as any of the other sport series'.

Contracts are lame, strategies are weak, ai sucks, gameplay could be a thousand times better.

Ea needs to put some real effort into the next one.
