Well, was the ski cross is a bit of a tough one to say he choked or didn't live up to expectations.

3rd place, you're gaining on the top 2 guys with 2 jumps to go...do you take a risk to win silver or gold or be happy for a bronze on home soil in the Olympics?

In that sport especially,there are so many risks and based on races wih 3 other guys, there's a risk every race.

Its not as if he didn't get into the final or the semis or quarters, that could be a considered a choke. As would be if he fell on his own of the start or was in a gold medal position and fell on his own.

But taking a calculated risk, as he did, to do all he can and try and do better than 3rd in such a big race, can be commended rather than critiziced, or certainly deemed a choke.

wow, that spontaneous O Canada at the curling rink was damn cool. was funny to see the curlers react, they've probably never dealt with anything like that before. and now the fans are doing the wave, it's like they think they're at a hockey game!

The Germans are pretty hot at the crowd in the curling rinks.

It's tough, I feel proud of how involved these fans are. On the other hand, I feel disappointed that they drink too much and then don't respect the traditions and etiquette. Especially when they cheer louder when the opposing team is trying to communicate up the rink.

Very moving, but it is causing communication breakdowns for every team.

Yeah, while it's fun to see and watch, I totally agree with the German skip who was bitching about the noise. It's curling, not football.

This isn't a friggin library, it is the Olympics. If they want to play golf or tennis where the crowd isn't aloud to talk or cheer then they are free to withdraw.

I don't see hockey coaches or players whining because they can't hear themselves talk on the bench. It is funny that you use football as an example too. Communication is SO important in football and the point is to make sure the other team can't compete.

If curling wants to adopt official rules that it will be as quiet as a funeral then they can go ahead. Otherwise, the more noise the better.

Hey, I think it's great that people are out enjoying themselves, but there gets to be a point where it's a little bit over the top. The impromptu Canadian anthem last night was a pretty cool moment, but being much louder when the opposing team has an important shot is a little bit over the top if you ask me. There is an etiquette at curling games, much like golf...and I think they need to respect it a little bit more.

the curlers wanted their sport in the Olympics, so they can't complain when it starts to get more of a youth following with results in loud crowds. Team Canada is adapting with hand signals, maybe the Germans should do the same instead of complaining

and if the recent trend of smoking hot young women competing in curling continues, i think the youth involvement in the sport will continue to go up, especially from young males

Noise in curling is fine, but too much can get the adrenaline going, which is bad for making precise shots. These guys should be able to block a lot of it out, and most shots can be called through broom signals anyway.
