This is the exact attitude that will always keep us behind the real high power nations. It's really an excuse honestly, are you telling me that the Olympics are not about bragging rights between countries and their athletes. Arrogance? Maybe that arrogance and being full of themselves is the reason they don't die under pressure and actually win a medal for their country.
As Hemi-Cuda pointed out, we are the world's second largest country, so lets stop treating these athletes likes kids and be proud of their "choke jobs". I am just waiting for all the excuses we hear after these olympics are over.
Also on a little note about arrogance and being full of ourselves? Canadians hyped up these olympics like there will be no other gold winner other than the Canadians for any event. The whole owning the podium, overhyping every athlete that eventually underperformed. I am pretty sure we are up their for arrogance and being full of ourselves, but just nothing to show for it.
Let the excuses pour in.

Murdoch steals. 6-5 GB. Canada with the hammer in the 9th.
Martin has been in stickier situations, but his strength is to hold leads, not take them back. Come on Martin!!!!

I think we need a thread where people can analyze our supposed shortcomings, and keep this one on topic.

We aren't the 2nd biggest country, land mass yes, but not population.
And I highly doubt the Olympics ranks up there when measuring a country.
I'd rather have a low unemployment, high GDP, high standard of living rather than win 5 extra medals at the Olympics.
If the Americans want to pump $ into there athletes and give them millions, let them. Remind me again how badly they are suffering in the recession compared to us? (I am not saying these 2 things correlate, but there is a reason the US is ahead of us, because they pour millions and millions more into their athletes than we do)

There have not been many great shots, but this game still has been a gooder so far. Two closely matched rivals, close game all the way.

Yeah, the game has been all over the place. A great shot seems to always be followed up by a miss.

No, 1st seed plays 4th and 2nd seed plays 3rd. The winners play for the gold and the losers play for the bronze.
