Lotta crashes, Lindsay Vonn blistered the course, then this Austrian lady right behind her bettered Vonn's mark by three quarters of a second.
Austria-USA-Austria leading right now.

Yup, I've been laughing at Galen Weston and his poor smugness. Go home to your seven billion dollars, Galen.

LOL another DNF. This women's alpine skiing team is probably our biggest embarassment at these Olympics.

Not the same - 90% of players at the olympics play on NHL ice, and over 95% of players on medal contenders do.

Yeah, that's gotta be eating at them quite a bit. Austrians are pretty ski-crazy, so them doing so horribly would be like our mens hockey team somehow coming in 7th at the Olympics.

These olympics have been some what disappointing. I dont know how many times i've counted that we we're favorite to win medals just to see it be choked away. I feel vancouver has been a jinx to our athletes.

She started really strong (0.01 back after the first timing station), then she hit a gate going over a large roller (the same one that knocked out Shona Rubens) and went really squirrely in the air. She recovered somehow, and finished her run, but ended up 2.75 back of the leader because of the near crash.

If you look at world cup rankings rather than CTV hype I think you'll make yourself a lot happier. By my count, only Charles Hamelin and Melissa Hollingsworth were true medal favourites who failed to medal, and Hamelin still has a couple more events in which to perform.
At the same time, numerous Canadian athletes (Alex Bilodeau, Jon Montgomery, Kristina Groves) who were ranked outside of the top three have managed to medal thusfar.

Damn. That really sucks. Thanks for trying your best ladies!
Hopefully Georgia Simmerling gets in a good run... if she starts, she has been pulled out of a few events by her coaches.

This.
There is a lot of hype on CTV. A lot of "The Canadians are going for GOLD!" when they really have no expectation of being on the podium.

Yes and no.
There have been a lot of events where Canadians should have been a threat to medal and didn't get it done. It's one thing to lay down a great performance and still get beat by someone better. It's another thing to not perform on the biggest stage...and we've had a number of athletes that fall into that latter category.

Let me guess, we'd win more medals if the games were in......wait for it....Calgary.
