Default food Tampering in Calgary

I thought someone else would have posted this before me... Looks like one or more people are shoving pins and other items into foods in assorted Calgary grocery stores. I think Coop in Oakridge has been the latest hit. They recommend people really inspect their foods before eating.

A number of years ago (2003ish) in the Southport Superstore I caught a guy 'molesting' the baked goods. He was shoving his hands in the bulk baked goods and fondling the buns (literally). I watched for a few moments and he moved to the bread where he was squeezing the bags, then opened one and shoved his hands in.

I decided it was better to get staff to deal with him then for me to risk getting arrested for cracking a watermelon over his head or some other cruel and unusual punishment this freak totally deserved.

I also caught a pick pocket in the same store (these people are easy to spot if you know their 'gig'), and I think I busted the same pick pocket at the Wallmart Superstore last week.

I sometimes shop at the Oakridge Coop. That place needs to hire a real butcher. The steaks they sell there are always mangled and embarrassed looking.

You should always inspect your food before eating, regardless of whether you think someone is tampering with it or not.

This thread is what epic is made of.

Back on topic, cops have said its mostly an attack on Coop's image, rather than attempt to injure since theyre using huge colored pins that stick out.

That Coop is brutal. I used to live in the area and every time I went there it was a horrible experience. It wouldn't surprise me if it is some disgruntled staff member. This has all the ear marks of a punk kid...probably the same one that stands on CaptainCrunch's lawn.

I shop there all the time. I think they have the best fruits and vegetables - it is the one place I can guarantee to buy a ripe avocado. My husband likes their steaks too - the butcher is a Flames fan. I sat next to him at a game recently.

I bet that's the guy doing the tampering. Always the ones you least expect. And I bet he wears Canucks underwear.

She's due to be released soon. Reading the article she's about a 9.5 on the nutjob scale!

http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/cr...127/story.html

“You have displayed a negative attitude toward the criminal justice system and have blamed the store, the court system and the media for your troubles,” the parole board wrote in its decision.
“You have refused participation in school, psychology, intake assessment and some programming (considered imperative to address your risk factors.”

I see your 9.5 and raise you a 10.

http://calgary.ctvnews.ca/woman-conv...lion-1.1834023

A Calgary woman who was found guilty of putting pins in food at a Calgary Co-op location is suing the grocery chain for defamation and is seeking $8 million in damages.

Granada says Co-op is responsible for the shame and loss of family honour her husband incurred which she says eventually led to his suicide. The plaintiff, who is originally from Latvia, alleges Co-op is responsible for the fact she is unable to secure employment and the grocery chain has caused her emotional distress. Granada says she has no income and is a widow left to raise her two children on her own.

WTF? Now just what lawyer would waste their time...

Not me, I am going to put this in the pile of things I don't worry about because the risk of me biting down on an aids infected needle is so minuscule that the added stress of worrying about it probably does more to shorten my life span than the essentially zero probability of getting hurt by this.

I have personally caught people tampering with food, it must not be that rare.
