Are you sure?? I've been extra careful in playground zones for this very reason.

Screw it, I'm speeding.

Plus the $53 tint ticket. I got my up-to-date papers e-mailed to me so I will be fighting it.
You can try to fight that one but I seriously doubt you'll have any luck. The ticket is for failure to produce proper insurance - which you didn't do. It's not a ticket for having no insurance.

Actually I know a couple, and they're pretty cool.

I once received almost $2,000 dollars worth of tickets when being a designated driver and my very drunk friend yelled something stupid out the open window as we were passing some cops. His insurance papers ran out at midnight that night and we were stopped just shortly after midnight. I was given tickets for driving without proof of insurance, stunting and public mischief or something like that. I can't exactly remember what they all were, but it was a pretty crappy result of just being the sober designated driver doing the right thing. Fortunately that guy is a good friend. He went to court and got all the tickets against me dropped.

Thorny: [after pulling car over] Do you know how fast you were going back there?
College Boy 1: Umm... 65?
Thorny: 63.
College Boy 1: But... isn't the speed limit 65?
Thorny: Yes, it is.
College Boy 3: [stoned] I'm freakin' out, man!

I'm not 100% sure on demerits but according to this site, its merely based on the speed you were going.

You're lucky you only got 'driving without proof of insurance'. You could have got the full drive without insurance and your buddy could have got one for allowing you to drive without it. Either way, those fines start at $2500.

Stunting for yelling out the window.

Public mischief? That is a criminal charge for misleading police.

I can't remember exactly what the tickets were as it was a few years back now. It may have been for driving without insurance. Anyways, he was insured, just hadn't put the new papers in the car.

Anyways, I didn't feel there was anything much lucky about the situation at all.
