Just got tickets to next Wednesdays short track events at the pacific colliseum! Very excited. Hopefully the women will deliver gold when I'm there this city is alive. I have never seen so much patriotism in Canada before. Flags on every second car it seems, blimps in the air , people wearing Canada geAr all over the place. You can't go a block in the city without seeing 10 people wearing Canada gear. It's a once in a lifetime experience and one I will never forget. People coming together. I saw some guys wearing Latvia jerseys at the skytrain station and went and shook their hands. They told me in broken English that they were having the time of their lives, they love the city , the vibe etc. This city is absolutely buzzing. So many nations coming together. It's amazing.

Wait a minute...everyone in the forum is telling me it's a giant shame on the nation and should've been held anywhere but Vancouver. Are you trying to suggest that it's not a disaster of epic proportions? Well I never....

Only one realy medal event for Canada today, and that's the ladies 1000 longtrack. Nesbitt is absolutely dominant at this distance, and Groves is solid too, so a double medal isn't out of the question.

Time for some of these long-track medals to come through....short of that bronze, it's been a fairly disappointing event for the Canadians. I would've thought with the home track advantage, they'd be doing better. Maybe they are too nervous?

Are we done hating America and Vancouver now? I missed the memo.

Yes a relatively poor showing from the Canadian rink in long-track. Ebb and flow. Too bad the ebb happened in 2010.

Nope, they're exactly in line with where their world cup ranks are; the hyping up of both Klassen and Wotherspoon has been ridiculous, as neither should have been expected to medal. But you can expect medals in the women's 1000 and 1500 (serious threat for two medals in each with Groves and Nesbitt), the women's 5000 (Hughes and Groves), and both men's and women's team pursuits. We should still finish with between six and eight medals in the discipline.

I was quite annoyed with how the media was covering Wotherspoon. They were talking him up like he was going to go out with a bang, when anybody who's been following his career knows his results have been trending down. The idea that he should be counted on to win a medal as unrealistic and a little mean. It annoys me when people look at results like his and grumble that we should have more medals.

The only guy I was really expecting a performance out of on the long track that didn't show was Denny Morrison.

So for the fourth time in 4 rounds of play, the US mens curling skip had last rock to throw for the win...his team is now 0-4 and basically out of the tournament.

And he's played probably the 4 easier teams. And those shots weren't hard.
