It is getting a little bit tiring constantly hearing about how Vancouver isn't able to host world-class events such as the Olympics. Anybody who has spent considerable time out here knows that's far from the truth. Vancouver is a great city (if you can ignore all the stupid Canucks fans!)

That all said, maybe there is some truth to the whining because there seems to be a ton of negative international press floating around. Regardless, I'm having a killer time out here and that's all that matters to me.

To be fair this isnt just a Calgary puck slagging of Vancouver - it's going global at how these games are trouble filled. Was hearing +15 this weekend in Wintercity - is that correct?

I hate how people jump all over the promoters every time something like this happens, people need to take some personal accountability. It's called natural selection, people who do stupid things, get hurt.

It's pretty clear that Vancouver is trying to destroy the world, one granola cluster at a time.

Figure it out people, one of the reasons that Vancouver is a great city is because you have beautiful warm weather in the city while it's snowing an hour away.

Sometimes I wonder how many of the people on here that bash Vancouver any chance they get have ever been there or spent any decent amount of time there?

My guess is whoever set up the barricades either didn't set them up properly, or the barricades weren't strong enough. I've been to alot of metal shows, and those barricades can withstand all the people pushing.

Not saying Alexisonfire is metal, though. All the teen girls were probably just trying to get close to Dallas Green.

They were probably Canuck fans. Can't expect common sense from people in Vancouver.

Vancouver is a great city. But there's a reason the international media is talking more and more about how these games are being plagued with problems. It's not just sour grapes, and it's not just this board making things up.

Clearly - some of it is out of the organizer's hands. It's the warmest winter on record. But some of it is the result of poor planning, incompetence, or just plain bad decision making. A opening anthem that created controversy. Malfunctioning torches. A luge course that allegedly had speed concerns called out well in advance of the Olympics that were ignored. Unsuitable ice resurfacers. Poor conditions for alpine events. Allowing VIP's to approach the Olympic torches, with barricades to keep everyone else away. Canceling tickets to events without regard to how far people may have traveled. Wayne in the back of a pickup truck. That's just off the top of my head, and I'm a guy who loves Vancouver.

You can point at a lot of good things happening in Vancouver, but that doesn't preclude the fact that these Winter games are having problems, and they're more significant than most in recent memory.

Everything is not fine, and all Canadians feel the pain of it. Some relish in it. Most probably just feel a vague sense of embarrassment.

Maybe we'll stop defending our city the second that outsiders like yourself stop hating on Vancouver and calling the city incompetent. Name me an Olympics that didn't have issues. Name an Olympics that didn't have glitches. These games are such a big project, it's impossible for everything to go perfect. It's just not gonna happen.

A barricade collapsed at a concert!! Oh My god, Vancouver Sucks, Vancouver sucks, idiots, idiots!!!! Barricades fall at concerts ALL THE TIME. This isn't the first time this has ever happened.

These games, in this era or social netowrking, blogging, media up the ass is gonna be the most reported, therefore most scrutinized games in history.

Reverse positions, let's say I was on here just blasting your city, calling the city stupid, incompetent, bitching and nit picking about any minor thing that went wrong. You'd wanna back up your city as well. You have pride in your city, and so do we.

Everything is not fine?? Tell that to the people having the time of their lives in the streets. Tell that to the thousands of people celebrating the hockey win on Robson last night. Tell that to the athletes and coaches who have been very pleased with venues.(yes, there are exceptions, but you cant make everyone happy).

These games ARE fine and unless you're here, you really can't go on what outside reporters are saying. If that's the case, we should all believe the crap that Larry Brooks, Bruce Dowbiggin, Tony Gallagher, etc.....write in their columns.

If you're basing your opinion on what you see from televsion, say that. Don't come on here thinking you know what you're talking about, because you clearly don't.

If you find overcast skies and rain beautiful then Vancouver definately has great weather.

For a rock concert incident, that is pretty minor.
