Default Olympic Hockey OOT: Feburary 17th (FIN/BLR, SWE/GER, CZE/SVK)

What to watch – Finland knows it faces a dangerous start to the 2010 Olympics, drawing Belarus in the first game of Group B action (3 p.m. ET) at Canada Hockey Place.

The Belarusians have been training together for the better part of two weeks, while Finland has had just two practices before this game. So despite a marked experience in both skill and experience -- remember, the Finns won silver four years ago in Turin -- Finland knows it will face a determined and organized opponent.
vs.
TSN(Joined In Progress) or Bell 995

What to watch -- As a result of where this tournament is being played and the incredible star power that Russia has, the Swedes, despite being the defending gold medalists, are coming in as the underdogs. That's exactly how they want it to be.

Sweden prefers to hunt, but in Wednesday's game they will most definitely be the hunted because Germany is a major, major underdog. The Swedes are third in the IIHF rankings while Germany is No. 12. The German roster includes only seven NHL players while Sweden has 19 -- and that's not counting longtime NHL star Peter Forsberg, who is playing in the Swedish Elite League.
vs.
SNET(Joined In Progress) or Bell 995

What to watch -- For the Czechs, there are bigger and better rivals these days -- a Russian bear to tangle with on Rivalry Sunday five days from now. For the Slovaks, this could well be their gold-medal game.

Four years ago, Slovakia stunningly went 5-0-0 in pool play. Then it met the Czechs in the quarterfinals, and a 3-1 Czech victory abruptly, bitterly ended the Slovaks' medal hopes. Yet again, their bigger, richer former countrymen proved dominant at a pivotal moment.
GO TEAM KIPRULAND!!!!

Last two games of the day are Join In Progress but if you have Bell you can watch the whole game on channel 995.

Joined in progress? That is garbage. Are you telling me CTV, TSN and Sportsnet can't free up one channel between them to show the complete game? That CZE vs SVK game should be awesome to watch.

Love the way they ragged on Kipper before the game started. Typical TSN b.s. with a good measure of Nick "######" Kypreos thrown in. Then to top it all off, the ultimate ###### bag Ray Ferraro working between the benches. I am sure he will find an opportunity or two to slag the Flames during this game.

Yeah, it will really suck having to miss some of that Czech and Slovak game. That's the best match of the day.

My family is originally from Finland, so naturally I would be excited to see Finland win another silver.

I completely forgot that this is Kipper's first Olympic Games. Also forgot that Selanne made such a big stink about it in '06.
