What happened: Canada began slowly and even though it held a 14-4 edge in shots, couldn't get one past the Norwegian starter Pal Grotnes in the opening period. Jarome Iginla's power-play goal early in the second eased the tension and it was 3-0 by the 11:06 mark on goals by Dany Heatley and Mike Richards. Ryan Getzlaf's power-play goal early in the third caused Norway's coach Roy Johansen to switch goalies and Heatley greeted the replacement, Andre Lysenstoen, with a blast from the left side, Canada's third goal with the man advantage. Iginla added his second of the game later, completing a beautiful three-way passing play, and then completed he hatrick with a tip-in late in the third.
They never took it away from him, the whole time it was awarded to Nash.
I thought it was announced as his, hence the hats on the ice. Also, the original write-ups on TSN and others had it listed as a hat trick, only to be later changed to 2 goals for Iginla.

it must really bother you that Iginla had a hatrick hey
Most normal people aren't so petty as to be upset when a player from a rival team puts up an excellent performance for his country. I'm a Canuck fan and I hope Iginla gets a hat trick every game. He's a fantastic player and I love seeing him at his best when he's playing for my country.
Seriously, can you give me a single good reason why a Canadian Canuck fan be bothered by Iginla helping Canada get the win? I really don't get that, just as I don't get all the people on here who were hoping Luongo would choke today. It's immature, petty, and pathetic. It's something I'd expect from children, not adults.

sure its simple to explain my initial comment is directed at Diane Phaneuf and Henrik33 who are notorious for all their Anti Iginla trash on CP.
Actually, listening to the game with no commentators, Iggy got quite the ovation when his goals were announced - fans in Vancouver don't appear to be holding grudges at all. Jus' saying, let's get over this for the next couple of weeks. Pissing matches can begin anew in March.
I was at the game and the arena was definitely rocking for Iggy. Even when the rosters were announced prior to the game, I'd say Luongo got the most cheers (obviously), then Crosby, and then Iginla.
Plus, each time he scored there were smatterings of the "Iggy Iggy Iggy... Oi! Oi! Oi!" chant.
Definitely no grudges against a Flame playing in the Vancouver Olympics.

Politics and Ice time. Yzerman made a few controversial picks... Doughty and Bergeron as young guns. Bergeron was the only guy to play himself onto the team.
Doughty looks like he will do fine as the Niedermayer replacement.
Bergeron has 4 assists in his last 10 games leading the Bruins to a lottery spot.
He is the guy that only fits well with Crosby and Nash and will be hard to hide on another line. Iginla would play great with Morrow and Toews and that line would be the momentum shifter.
Sure would rather have Doan (2 goals 7 a phx 7-3 in last 10 games) or even Ryan Smyth ( 5 goals 4 assists in last 10 games LA going 8-1-1) on the team rather than Bergeron as they would fit in anywhere and do what it takes.
Carter would be better as well.
Did Bergeron make the team as a token Quebec representative?

Really? I thought Bergeron/Nash/Crosby played pretty poorly last night when on the same line but when put on the Richards line, Bergeron fit in really well. Ah well, just my $0.02.

Sutter should put Iggy on the fourth line for a few shifts.
