All this "see, look what he can do with a good linemate" is just ridiculous.

Guys like Crosby and Nash and other "first line skilled linemates" aren't just out there for the taking. And the fact that Phaneuf watched tonight's game on TV and wasn't even on the radar for the Olympic team tells me that he wasn't going to fetch anybody quite as talented as so many of us seem to think.
With respect, Jesus plays goal for Finland.

Iginla had the hat-trick while only playing 9 minutes, too.

They finally give him the hat trick? I would have been so choked if they didn't. Clearly tipped that last shot.

Only 9:48? For some reason I have a gut feeling BabCOCK isn't a fan of Iggy.

Go to hockey and then Schedule & Results. Find the date, then go to Roster & Statistics.

They updated Iggy's hat-trick, but haven't updated it on the score sheet yet for some reason.

Iggy doesn't play on the PK, and he had limited time in the first period. Babcock likes Iggy now.

He had something like 3 minutes in the 1st. So even with all the goals and first line minutes, nothing in terms of ice time has changed. Maybe Babcock doesn't like Iggy.

He played 2/3 minutes in the 1st. You would think they could find more than 7 minutes of ice time in the last 40 minutes of play for the guy.

Babcock: "He doesn't need to score to help us." Talking about Iginla.

Ya tell one of your purest scores that. The problem in Turin was we couldn't score and now your telling that to one of 2 players that have scored 50 in the NHL? I don't understand this guy.

So glad they gave Iggy the hattrick in the end. Was pretty scared that they might have missed the tip on that "Nash" goal and Iggy was going to get screwed out of something pretty special. Now we just need to find a way to get Sid the Kid in Calgary.

Get .It .Done .Sutter

It's kind of tough when you have this kind of lineup. If you look, Getzlaf's line only played in the 12-13 minute range, and they were out for pretty much every PP it seemed.

When you have a roster of stars players aren't going to get as much time as they are used to.

Even so, 9:48 seems low. It sure seemed like he was out there more than that.

No doubt about it, Crosby, Nash, and Iginla is a totally sick line. I truly cherish these rare occasions when lines like this can exist in the real world. The true difference maker is Crosby. I will never understand why this guy is despised by so many on this forum and other hockey boards. The guy is a winner, pure and simple, and he's still improving. He sees the whole ice, is a wicked sniper and even better passer, is unselfish and makes his linemates, any linemates, better players. Anything can happen in a single knockout tournament, but Sid's presence on this team is absolutely the number one reason I think this team will succeed. And I love the fact that my favorite player, Iggy, is on his wing. I hope he doesn't go through Sid withdrawal when this tourny ends.

Canada Hockey Place
Matt Coy (venue producer) of Cupertino, Calif.
Cam Goudreau (associate venue producer) Vancouver, BC
Rebecca Grant (associate venue producer) of Vancouver, BC
Peter Stewart (field producer) of Calgary, AB
Christian Gauthier (French announcer/ice hockey) of Le Gardeur, QC
John Ashbridge (announcer/ice hockey) of New Westminster, BC
Kelly Burnham (announcer/ice hockey) of Littleton, Colo.
Sebastien Goulet (French announcer/ice hockey) of Boucherville, QC
Dave Levinson (music director/ice hockey) of Vancouver, BC
Dieter Ruehle (music director/ice hockey) of Los Angeles, Calif.
Marc Denis (field talent/ice hockey) of Chicoutimi, QC
I thought it was strange that the Avalanche public address announcer (Kelly Burnham) was announcing the goals during the Canada/Norway game. Usually, John Ashbridge is the public address announcer at GM Place.

Who are the other 50 goal scorers on this team? Iginla is one of the absolute best scorers on a team full of stars, and that's saying something. Trying to fit him into a checking line role (when defense isn't his strong suit) is ass backwards, if you ask me. Especially when Bergeron's strongest suit is his defense, you'd think he would have been the logical guy to play that role to start with. Because he had some chemistry with Crosby in Juniors 5 years ago he should be playing alongside him now? Hm.

Hopefully this game signals a change and Iginla plays more of a goal-scoring role, considering he's one of the absolute best in the entire NHL in that role, even when compared to a team full of other stars.

I would be interested in finding out what Iginla's role on this team is if it ISN'T important for him to score. He isn't a defensive minded player and never has been. Is that what Babcock wants him to be for the games? If so, why have one of your top 3 purest snipers playing that role? Just seems odd to me.

Ya I understand that but 9:48 definately seems way to low. I was expecting it to be in the 13/14 minute range but I guess the 1st period killed any chance of that. I just hope Babcock doesn't take Iggy for granted. The guy is a world class player and is an elite finisher, put him on a line with Sid, Getzlaf or Joe and he can definitely lead this touny in the goals department. The post game comments from Babcock still make me question what he is thinking.
