To give the final boarders the rest.
Also it determines 5-8 for placing reasons

Given what happened yesterday, my heart was still pounding the whole time.
Couldn't even sit down.

Ranking is important. Especially when you complete in your next events. The higher rankers do not have to start first/ealier

I believe it's incase anybody gets dq'd from the big final. The winner of the small final will move up in the standings.

Unforunate for Jacobellis, but lucky for Ricker. Lindsay was pretty much the only serious competition for Ricker today. Seemed like Lindsay was the only other girl who could get out of the start gates as fast as Ricker.
Everyone else seemed a step behind.
But gold gold gold baby!

Having watched for a couple days now, I love snowboard-cross. Mostly love that it's a fair as anything I've ever seen. There are no rankings or pre-conceived ideas or seedings. Being a World Champ is just the same as being ME!
You take 50ish guys (or girls), make them do two qualifying runs.. top 32 make it.
They are then seeded based on those times so Heat #1 is 1,16,17,32 and so on..
Top two make it everytime until there's a winner.
That's perfect! They should make the freaking figure skaters do that!

Jamie Campbell with his 4th medal call out of 5 Canadian medals.
Makes up for the sting of losing out on calling the Blue Jays a bit.

For some reason they need to determine 5th through 8th place.

Not over yet...
Ski Cross is next week. Same format for qualifiying and racing. Very similar course in regards to jumps and turns, of course, on skis instead of snowboards.

Is the Luge medals being handed out today. I see a Canadian is the current leader. I highly doubt it will stick as the Germans are yet to come and they kill in this sport.
