Who wants Ovechkin?

The simple answer to that is that I am stupid. To be perfectly honest I am not sure why I did it. Part of me wanted to pull the trigger while the common sense part of me was screaming no.

The trade breaks down as : ovechkin + Allen for tavares + pronger + clowe


Three reasons we did this are:
1: having sid and ao is awesome and they haven't played together in the new sim so who knows what happens.
2: our team has not been great so it could use a change.
3: clowe was bad in the sim and Allen is almost as good as pronger. As bad as ao has been I actually gain 77 sim points for 60 so hopefully the shakeup helps.

Will ao turn it aroud in Pittsburgh? Probably not! Was it worth the risk? Absolutely!!

Cool trade Goffie...it's worth the gamble. And having Sid and AO on the same team is pretty sweet.

Pretty smart to trade for Ovechkin now when his value is probably lower than it normally is. I took a run but I wasn't willing to give up the guy that Dave wanted.

Ovy was a ppg player for us last season with 33 goals in 63 games. But he was traded before the season started in the lundqvist deal.

The parts were there and I got pretty much what I was looking for. I wanted a young superstar-type player...Tavaras gives us this. Grant and I hit a snag over Stamkos and then we battled over younger players. I think he'll agree that this trade gives me more than he was willing to give up.

The Flyers were also in the mix but the top guys he was willing to send back just didn't quite compare to Tavaras and Pronger. He was willing to add some nice 1sts which was attractive but I am in a win now mode.

I was seeking for the Avalanche 1st round pick in the deal with goffie but he just wouldn't budge on that.

Overall I think I got a great package for Ovechkin.

I fianlly got a true #1 Dman which was extremely important. I got a true #1 forward and a good top 2 winger. We are happy.

NOw, please check the other thread for news on Tavaras...

Well props to Goffie for trying this, maybe AO will get hot in the sim for him (it really is a guessing game with the Pens). I think at that acquisition price it was a decent move, Goffie will always be able to get close to that if not more from other GMs.

MJK got some serious talent back, but I like this acquisition price for Goffie.
