I expected that the consensus was that it is illegal. There are probably 2 dozen people who zip across there every afternoon and I always wondered.

I used to do it all the time when I did process serving downtown. If you didn't and you needed to park at the old Land Titles Office or the Provincial Court before they tore it down, you would end up driving around for five minutes before you could get driving in the direction you wanted to go!

I do it all the time too, and so has anyone who does deliveries downtown. I've never seen anyone get a ticket for it.

Yup I'm downtown everyday and I do it. Good thing is you don't have to look both ways so you only have to wait for one red light, and go. You'd have to be in a stupid rush or chinese to get into an accident doing that.

I had an accident with a guy doing this last summer . . . I was in the last lane and he was going from alley to alley from behind CityTV to the Chophouse . . . he decided it was a great idea to do this during rush hour traffic across five lanes of traffic and was ruled at fault . . . hope his insurance hike was worth not turning into the proper lane . . . and for the record he was a middle aged white guy

^^ So here's the question- did he receive a ticket or just found to be at fault? And what was the ticket for? If it was failure to yield; then as was said yesterday the person doing needs to be sure all lanes are clear.
