Bell TV has added 5 HD + 2 Multi-view channels for 2010 Games (5 SD Channels too!)
Looks like Bell will be doing the same for the Winter games (just more channels) as they did for the Summer games in 2008 with five commercial-free HD channels of uninterrupted live competitions.
Channels 995, 996, 997, 998, 999 will all be HD 2010 Winter Games coverage.
There is also a multi-view channel where you can view up to six events on a single interactive screen. This can be found on channel 275 or press "iTV" on your remote when the games begin.
They have also added Men Hockey Multi-view which will replace the NHL multi-view (Channel 425).
Quote:
The six video windows show all the action from every game, including Player Cams that track individual players and up-to-the-minute in-game stats.

This is a Bell exclusive.
Sounds pretty cool, I can't wait!

Just FYI you will have to order it, even though it is free: 1 866 68-ORDER (67337)
Also SD Channels will be 381, 382, 383, 384 & 385
Not sure why you have to order it but maybe they are just trying to gauge how popular it is for future games. Very simple to do just phone the number and it actually asks right away (after language & phone number) if you are phoning about this event and you say 'Yes'.

Don't forget the Fireplace channels... (889 in english, 888 in french. That's right, a french fireplace channel.)
Warm up, after a day on the Olympic slopes.

Channel 381/995 are saying they will have Ski Jumping on in about 15 minutes...is it normal for them to have events before the Opening Ceremonies?

If people haven't been enjoying these channels they are an awesome way to ignore commercials. I can't wait for the player cams when the hockey starts.

It is a great thing to flip to during the commercials... They are a great way to check that what you are watching on NBC, or wherever, is live and not delayed by 30 minutes.
I wish they had a commentary version though ... some of these sports I dont watch often enough to know the rules/judging inside out so I actually need the commentary.

haha I was so lost during the Women's biathlon but I was mainly watching CTV but during commercials and boring parts would flip to some live stuff on those channels. I love the multi-view so you can quickly see what is playing on all 6 major networks at once and go from there.
I hope they continue to do it in later Summer and Winter games....and hopefully for free (ya I know I'm dreaming).

The multi-view channel sounds like the Red Button used over here, it is sweet and I was waiting for it for some time when I was back home. Nice to see that it has arrived, hopefully Shaw will have it by the time I go back for a visit!

What`s the quality like on these *HD* channels? I'm too cheap for the dish or cable, watching CTV over the air through a coat hanger plugged into my 71 inch monitor. Channel 36.1 totally uncompressed HD 1080i is pretty frackin amazing. I'd wager its the best picture quality you can get.
It has been a while though since I've seen *HD* cable/dish, anyone with one care to try their tuner on 36.1? I'd be curious to see if people notice the difference that I did a while back when I had both.

Commercial free, commentary free HD goodness.
Thank you Bell for this, this certainly helps retain me as a subscriber.
I like that they pipe in lots of crowd noice on these feeds.

If anyone is watching a hockey game on TSN/SNET but hates the intermission stuff should flip to the Bell channel for that game and they show like every angle possible of every good save, goal, hit, etc. It's pretty neat following around Ovechkin before he scores a goal.

The reasoning for having to order it, is that the easiest way to order it is to plug your telephone line or internet cable into your receiver. Once your telephone or internet line is plugged into your receiver, Bell can keep track of your receivers and also you will be more likely to order other PPV events.

I'm absolutely loving these channels. They actually list in the guide exactly what is showing and for how long, unlike TSN/CTV/SN which just list all the stuff they will be showing that day but not the times.
Also, watching the Canadian Men's game without commentary was amazing. It was just like being there and the lack of commentary meant I could watch whatever and not worry about their biases or tendencies effect how I watch the game.
