Canada/USA is generally a good game, but the rest of these games are a farce

That's why I said generally speaking. I don't think blowout games are ever really an example of exciting hockey. But I don't think that all the games outside a Canada/US game would be considered a farce. They aren't all blow outs.

I feel sad for Hamelin - getting put in such a brutal semifinal. Yeah you have to beat everyone at one time, but the the other semis weren't stacked like that.

Brutal by Hamelin and by Bastille to not even make it to the semis, not a great start for men's short track. Jean's gonna be in tough in the final too with 3 Koreans and 2 Americans, should be a lot of team skating. The womens side looked really good in the preliminaries of the 500m though.

Well, at least Jean made it. Hamelin's heat was stacked.
Oh god. I hate the Women's Hockey team.
Anybody else notice that the Women's PP is trying too many skill plays?

This women's hockey is like the first few games of the world juniors
I feel bad, I wish once the team got it to like a 6 goal lead they just started wasting time
no need to win by this much

There are 3-4 teams that are competitive, and a bunch more that get stomped. Canada outscored it's first 3 opponents in 2006 36-1. It doesn't look much different than softball and baseball, two sports axed from the olympics in part due to lack of capable competitors.

The same thing happens in the Junior competition. Canada stomps their competitors usually into the double digits. Should that competition be shut down? Even in the Olympic Mens hockey, Canada usually beats up on their first few opponents.

I've heard plenty of people talk about reducing the field for that tournament. I'm among them.

My wife is paying more attention to the womens hockey game than I am, and she commented that she was pretty surprised by one of Cassie Campbells comments
It was something like
"if this was a real game she wouldnt have passed, she would have shot it" During the first handful of minutes in the first period.
She apparently corrected herself a little later, and I mean sure, we all know that Canada and the United States are going to steam roll everyone they face, but not so sure Cassie should have discredited Slovakia the way she did. Even if I agree with her. *shrugs*

Men's luge starting now on NBC. Costas did say that Nodar's Georgian teammate did choose to withdraw today. I don't think anyone can blame him.

Women's hockey shouldn't be an Olympic sport.

They should make Canada play shorthanded the whole game...then it might only be 10-0

18 minutes until women's moguls finals (right?), hopefully the Flames game has no whistles.

and congrats to the women's short track for qualifying to the 3000m final. Hope they can pull out a top 3 there.
