Actually our family thought she did an awesome job.
The whole torch thing was obviously the low point. From the problems with the stage torch, to getting stuck in the airlock, to the ridiculously long ride out to the other torch. It just didn't seemed like it was practiced or even planned at all.

Just you.
They got the same amount of time as contingents of the same size.

I agree with you, though the way they had the trip to the second torch planned, it might have been hard for him.

Rick Hansen could have handled it, and beaten off the hooligans at the same time. I would not be surprised if he went through worse in his travels.

Technically, not stuck in the airlock. In some of those doors you do need to wait until the doors close behind you first or the roof can collapse if the pressure drops.
That said, the TV footage shouldn't have cut to Gretzky until he was outside the doors. They also should have told some of the other police officers that the torch was being taken 15 blocks through downtown so they could have more than 1 car follow him and stop some of the street riff raff from getting within 5 feet.

Even at the beginning with the snowboarder. They cut to the live guy way too early. Ruined the momentum.

Overall a good ceremony with some ups and downs.
Ups.
- Tribute to Georgian athlete
- KD Lang
- Athlete entrance
- Visual effects
- BC Place looked good with the white and the lights and stuff
Downs.
-Anthem
-Technical malfunction of the torch. that was a bit cringe-worthy
-Tin-foil teepee torch
-Wayne Gretzky stuck in the vestebule of the BC Place trying to get outside, Wayne Gretzky in the back of a pick up with some local meat-heads running along side trying to get on TV.
-The flags flapping around and getting tied up in the windmaking machines

That was terrible.
You know when the best part of the whole thing was steam getting shot out of the ground you had a weak showing...
2nd most expensive ceremonies ever? How did they manage to spend 40 Million on some blankets and a projector...
Now I feel like an idiot for telling all my friends how awesome these ceremonies were going to be after reading all the rumors and hype. That was weak.
Now the whole world is going to think we're a bunch of Flying, Fat, Fiddling, Native people living in an arctic tundra...

I thought they were pretty good the torch blooper notwithstanding. KD Lang did really well and for the most part that performance was pretty well done and really highlighted on the multicultural aspects of Canada and all the different parts of Canada.
I can't wait for the events to start tomorrow!

I love this song. It epitomized the Calgary games which just felt so community-oriented and great - a bit before the games turned into a bit of a corporate show.
All the best of luck to Vancouver though, the games can have a tremendous effect on a city, just as we witnessed here in Calgary.
