One question, does it have spoilers? I.e. if I haven't finished watching BSG yet should I avoid this show?

It had some interesting moments, but BSG's series start was far superior.

BSGs series start was the bar, and the rest of the series was the writers seeing how much lower then could get the bar without losing the fans. Apparently the answer has something to do with increments, cliffhangers, slightly raising it again (but not to the original position), Xena, finding out that this one guy can sing like a catholic choir boy, and another guy that's kinda skinny gets fat then skinny again and then marries the wrong girl, killing off everyone that's not part of the 'core', and promising that either everything or nothing will get explained by the end.

Caprica, or how much farther can we limbo. After watching 2 almost brilliant seasons of BSG, I'm in the mode of fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

If you haven't watched the first 2 seasons of Battlestar you probably should. They're excellent. But I wouldn't really worry about spoilers, outside of episode to episode momentum they don't really add up to a whole lot.

I bought the Pilot on DVD once BSG ended months ago. So I just watched last nights new episode. Eick and Moore have been pretty straight up that it isn't BSG. I pretty sure Eick said it was conceptually "American Beauty" to BSG's "Black Hawk Down". So if you didn't like some of the soap operaesque elements of Jane Epensen's scripts (I believe she is the showrunner for Caprica) then you might wanna stay away. I do think I will enjoy religious stuff though. As annoying as Moore's 'theo babble' got near end of BSG I found it interesting.

So long story short, I think I'll stick with Caprica. However when you watch it, don't expect Battlestar Galactica. They are in the same universe, and yes we have a Cylon but they're drastically different.

Well

BSG SPOILERS in white.....

Zoe isn't the first Cylon.

Like I said, I can't see Caprica appealing the BSG masses. I also watch Big Love, so maybe I'm trained my self for prime time soap with religiosity.

sorry, shouldn't have assumed this was spoiler-safe. above post now edited to white.

Y-B, understand your point, but Zoe did develop the technology, at least in part, this time around

goofy and far fetched to me

Of course it's far fetched. I just can't way for Zoe to be explained away as "An agent of a higher power"
