Default A good program to make a slideshow/video?

Do you guys know a good program to make a slideshow and video? We're trying to make a video that incorporates pictures, talking (video) for a birthday but I can't seem to find a good program.

Thanks!

I tried Windows Movie Maker, but does it allow me to insert videos? There's some photos that it zooms in funny and makes it hard to see... I kind of want to be able to edit it a little more.

I don't have a Mac so I haven't tried iMovie... I'll try it when I get a chance to.

I know you don't have it but iMovie does do this and quite well, once you get the hang of it. More for others that stumble on this.
