It's the morning after and I still don't think its fully sunk in yet. Wow what a game! I had about 8 heart attacks and was working on a nervous breakdown by the time she was all over. That Minny game reminds me alot of when the two played last year on MNF, when the Saints kept moving the ball but then repeatedly coughed it up and handed it back to Minny with mistakes, and ultimately lost on a last-second field goal. Those are tough to swallow, I feel for ya Pagal.
Although the Vikes had some horrible breaks with all the fumbling, I still think the Saints D deserves some cred there. After the game Vilma said they knew Minny puts the ball on the ground alot, and the Saints D was looking to exploit it. I know a couple were just gaffes on handoffs, but I also saw some beautiful punches and strips of the ball by Saints defenders to free it up. I noticed on almost every tackle they were aggressively trying to rip it out. The Saints D led the league in turnovers this year, they've been a big-play D all year. This is what they do.
I still can't believe the Saints are in the Super Bowl, I quite literally thought I'd never see the day. WHO DAT?!!

Just reading through the last few pages of this thread, I see the Saints are being counted out yet again. Good, I like it that way. Its the Saints, we're used to being underdogs. I'll be the first to say that Peyton Manning scares me, he's the only QB in this league that makes me crap my pants when my team plays him. Every time he plays the Saints he just goes off. Granted, this is the best Saints D he'll have faced, but I still don't doubt his ability to carve up our D. The key to beating Manning is pressure(no kidding), and considering how much time Favre had to throw most of yesterday, that's a scary thought. I would not be stunned if Manning had a big game, and I agree that the Colts should probably be considered the favourites.
HOWEVER, if you're completely writing off the Saints in this game, I think you need to look at the match-ups more. That's a pretty vulnerable Colts secondary if you ask me. Brees and the Saints O have preyed on inexperienced secondaries alot this season(re: Pats). The Colts have a solid D, but the Vikings they are not. I see some big point potential for the league's #1 offence coming into this one, and if you don't then I think you are kidding yourself. I could see this being a high-scoring, last-team-to-have-the-ball-wins type of game.
Even if the Colts do win, I will be bitterly disappointed but over-all will still be very satisfied with this season. After that 13-0 start, I felt a loss in the conference play-offs would be a big letdown. But getting to the Super Bowl is uncharted waters for the Saints, and is a big step to becoming recognized as a legit, strong franchise(lets face it, even during this big year, whenever the Saints would slip you'd still hear that "I knew it, its still the Aints" type comments). I couldn't be happier with what has happened this season.
Judging by the comments of many posters on both this board, the other non-Saints board I'm on(where they sound like they do here), and the early Vegas line, the Colts are clearly the favourites. New Orleans doesn't have a ton of pressure on them, they just need to go in and do their thing. If they lose, it was still an unforgettable season. And if they win, I'm gonna go off like its 1999.

At the end of the day the underdog and favourite titles that are given every SuperBowl really mean nothing at all. Your one game away from winning it all, all the motivation is right there. Both teams have classy head coaches and your simply not going to get any Freddie Mitchell bulletin board material. It's just going to come down to who plays better two weeks from now.
Watching post game and monday morning interviews is there is a much different tone after the two conference championship games. For good reason, the Saints are in celebration mode. The Colts are just all business talking about next week. Two franchise's in much different places, but the two best teams in the NFL all year.
Haha just saw that on another MB too, its making the rounds. Classic. Reminds me of me when I'm watching a game. Speaking of Favre, as a longtime Favre-hater I need to say something. I was very, very impressed with his toughness yesterday. I know he's famous for it, but to see it firsthand in a game I was so emotionally invested in was crazy. He just kept taking big hit after big hit and kept getting up for more. When he took that sandwhich hit late in the 3rd quarter and had to be dragged off the field, I turned to my buddy and said "He's out for the game". Yet he didn't miss a single down, incredible.
I still don't like Favre and never will, but after that game I can see why his fans admire him so much. The guy's a warrior.
...I'm just glad vintage Favre showed up at the end of the game .

I can understand the frustration of Vikings fans. It will take a while to get over that one. Its one thing to lose to a better team knowing that there isn't much your team could have done to win. To have your team be the better team and blow it, is probably the worst way to lose. Fans will be thinking "what if" for decades.
Speaking of the Favre interception? Is there any nicknames being kicked around for it yet? You know, something like Mistake by the lake, immaculate reception, etc. etc?

That is mild, I would imagine, compared to some reactions in Viking country. I would imagine housewares were broken all across the land.

Or, he has a 2nd year on his contract already signed. $13 million is the dollar figure that was on the 2nd year of his contract. Not that the contract has any bearing on his decision.
We get it, you don't like Favre....try to contribute something other than your seething hatred of the guy next time.

Vikings were hardly the better team.
IMO the "better team" doesn't put the ball on the ground a bajillion times, and throw a couple of INTs on top of that.
The line on the Super Bowl has already moved an entire point. Colts are now favoured by 5.5. That's almost good enough for me to put money on the Saints.
