I have heard every fotzeism so you better be clever.
The one name that keeps coming back is Owen. I Like it.
|
Owen, meaning "young warrior".
Evan means the same thing yet is a much nicer name. I'm not biased or anything, trust me.
And someone said Owen can't be shortened. I have a friend named Owen. Most people call him "O".
Out of the three related names Owen, Ewan and Evan, I like Evan then Ewan then Owen.

A guy I worked with wanted me to name my kid after him, of course I didn't, but maybe you could help him and out and name your boy James.
Also make sure that your kids initials don't have any meaning. I heard of a guy whose last name started with an H had a daughter and had her named Hanna Haley or something of the like. It wasn't until a few months later when he was watching wrestling that his wife saw HHH and realized why he liked his daughters name so much!
My boss knows a guy whose initials are F.A.T.
Then there are other play on names that you may want to avoid. I went to school with a guy named Harry Dick and his sister was named Anita...
Hope that helps you narrow down some names.
How about Hal? You know that song... "Raise a little Hal, Raise a little Hal, Raise a little Hal..."

Alejandro?
There used to be a Braves pitcher named Alejandro Pena. I think he was on the world championship team of 1995.

Your Missus is a European, ain't she? Dutch or something? An old school name from that country (or whatever country) would be cool. Or, if it is Dutch, you could name him "Dutch". Just like Ronald Reagan's nickname!
Or Francis. I've told about a million people to name their kid (boy or girl), Francis/Frances. I like that name. Nobody ever listens to me though.

For our first son we stayed away from the trendy-trend (ie. Connor, Ethan, Benjamin, Logan etc.) or the strange spellings of late (Eryk, Filip, etc.) and went with Robert. Good strong sounding name, and we also liked Rob for short. Worked well with our Last name as well.
Leans towards the more traditional side, but isn't super common like 'Jason' or 'Michael' where there were six of each of them in my elementry school classes!
It was pretty hard to remember who was Jason B, Jason H, Jason R, Jason S, Jason D, and Jason M.

I want to marry a Swedish girl too, but it has nothing to do with their names.

as long as it's not a ridiculously spelled name (Brandee - hey, my kid's going to be a stripper...... ) or one of those awful soap opera-y names (Colton, Beau, etc.) you're good to go. Hippie ones are awful too (knew someone named Star of Peace and River).
I like good old fashioned "normal" names.

I know a girl whose first name is Velvet. Her last name is Rose. Don't do that to your kids, people!

I never really liked the name Owen. Reminds me of a guy in grade seven who passed his pants one day while he was laughing too hard.
How about Ethan, Gabriel or Josh?

smoooooooooke another one
Go mythological with this one. My vote is Atlas or Mars, but stay away from Cassiopea (sp?). That's a sure ticket for a one way ride off the top of the monkey bars.

That third one you mentioned is a GREAT name.
If you name your kid velvet rose you may as well just turn them over to the porn industry right away. [/b][/quote]
God no. She wasn't pretty. When we were 16, she was living with a 26 year old though....

I'm married to swedish girl
we are staying away from traditional Swedish name for our son when he's born (hopefully not on dec.5 like the doctor has predicted)
back to the thread this is an interesting site when looking at baby names
http://babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html
you type in the name your thinking of an it shows you how popular it's been.
a name I'm not using but a name that I like is Alexander
