The manager at the EB I usually go to told me he would call me tonight if he got it in, as long as I didn't tell anyone. If he calls, it's gonna be a late night!

Late night ha you won't even go to sleep and call in sick tomorrow.
At least that's what I'd do if I got it early.

I've never picked up a game on it's release before... can I still go into EB today and pre-order? If I don't pre-order, will I be able to find it tomorrow?

There's no reason to ever pre-order a game unless you want the bonus stuff companies are all of a sudden starting to use as a pre-order incentive.

Pre-ordering games =
Big titles always have lots of copies. Unless they're Nintendo, because Nintendo has a BIG supply chain problem, or Atlus, because Atlus never prints enough copies.
I only ever pre-order if there is incentive to (extra items, pre-load on PC, etc).

I've got the itch right now and have to wait until I get home from work.
Why does work have to last so long and the ride home is gonna be torture as I look at the box on my passenger seat.

wow, i only just got started in ME2 and it's amazing. the prologue and intro were great and the new combat system is miles better than the original. and the amount of detail Bioware has poured into this game is incredible. walking around the new Normandy, finally seeing a REAL alien spaceport at the new Citadel wards, hearing that even the most minor decision you made in ME1 impacting the Galaxy News, it's unreal. this really is a game ahead of it's time, there is nothing else like it

I know eh! I just got Garrus again!! WOOHOO, and I am now off to get Grunt.
This game is soo much better than the first.
The only thing that sucks is my xbox is a POS and it sometimes thinks my ME2 disc is a DVD and it won't play. F*** YOU MICROSOFT!

the new combat system is almost TOO good. it's going to be really hard to me to go back to ME1 and get my second character to level 60

The only thing I liked more from the first game was upgrading the skills. I like the new ones they added, but I liked the old system better.
That and the weapons now have an ammo limit. I wish I could use my Heavy Weapon all the time, I love the Blackstorm (the gamestop pre-order).
On that note, how I do I get ammo for heavy weapons?

yeah. You'll be asked about stuff from the first game where you say either (a) or (b). You can always read the wikipedia article on ME and just read the plot.

yes, except you'll probably find yourself wishing you had played the original first and feeling like you're missing out. this is a series where it's very rewarding to pick up the first game for cheap and play it through first

I picked up #1 at Future Shop for $9.99 a few weeks before xmas and I'm really happy I finally played it. I finished it Monday night and would've played through it again in a heartbeat if #2 wasn't coming out the next day.
starting #2 right now...

Damn it, my saves from ME1 don't show up (i guess i probably saved before the saren fight) and I traded in my game
Guess i'll have to hunt down a copy of the game and save it again before I start 2.

For anyone else playing on PC, try here;

Lists of ME 1 saves that you can use. I grabbed a Paragon one similar to my first playthrough on 360, so that I could play it on a superior platform.
