Kevin Smith is set to make a sequel to one of the biggest indy hits of all time, Clerks. I don't know what to make of this. I loved the first one but this seems like Smith going back to the well for a sure thing after his latest film, Jersey Girl, tanked like no ones business at the box office.

Some movies are better left without a follow up. I smell a cash grab as well.

I kinda though the point of Clerks, Chasing Amy, Mall Rats, Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back was to showcase their characters in film. May it be small or major roles. I don't understand the need to make a sequel to Clerks? Personally I think it's the lamest of the Jay and Silent Bob Collection.

It's a shame that so many people feel the need to go and make a sequal out of everything. There are just way too many movies that shouldn't have sequals yet do. Or movies that end perfectly yet get sequals just for the monetary reasons. I understand why they do it but it really makes me wish that they wouldn't.
I don't see why he is making a sequal to Clerks rather than just make another movie to go in with the "Jay and Silent Bob" movies. I guess need for money and lack of good ideas will do that sometimes.

Clerks was a vwery funny movie, but to go and make a sequel? I can't see it being as good as the original.

I think it could be good, as long as it's not cheesy like Jay and bob Strike back....

Jay and Silent bob Collection? You mean the 'Jersey Chronicles'.
....and I reccommend you watch Clerks again. The Earlier movies in the series were the best BY FAR. Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy are heads and tails better than Dogma and J&SB Strike Back.

Has Jay and Silent Bob made any cameos in other movies (not Kevin Smith movies). I know they did in Scream 3. Did they do any others?

Clerks is great, Mallrats is great, Chasing Amy has its moments, and I love Dogma.
But Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was awful. I don't find Jason Mewes funny at all, the best parts of that movie is the parts were he isn't part of the joke.

I just dont see this as a cash grab. Smiths movies have always been more cult hits than box office hits, . I would suspect - and hope - that he is doing this because he has a legitimate believe he can make another great comedy.

I hope you are right, but I beleive Jay and Silent Bob did very well at the Box Office.. and with the massive cult following that Clerks has now this can make some serious dough at the box office.
I hope he films it cheap though, just spends the money on the cast.

Doesn't Trilogy usually mean 'three'?
...cause last time I checked it was 5 movies:
1) Clerks
2) Mallrats
3) Chasing Amy
4) Dogma
5) J&SB Strike Back
believe me, its the 'Jersey Chronicles'
