Local Snuff and Cellphones...
Wow, all I can say is thank god the forensic officer was able to apply the often misunderstood concept of never being able to delete anything digitally.
This @hole is sick.
I can't believe this happened here in Calgary.
My thoughts and prayers (what isn't being used for Haiti) are with the Sarah Rae's family.

Wow, what a disturbing case. The perp is lacking a certain essence of humanity to commit such an act...to record it on video, as the victim died...I find impossible to comprehend. What a world we live in.

I knew Sarah Rae since Elementary, we both graduated together at Queen Elizabeth Junior/Senior Highschool of 2001. I never really talked to her much since we both hung out with different crowds. She was more of the Punk/Skater Smoker type while I was the nerdy jock. Sarah was known for being the quiet, shy type of girl.
She'd be 27 this year if it hadn't been for this, but yea it sucks when someone you know for a long time passes away like that.

The judge-only trial also heard a recording of a phone conversation between Martel and his longtime friend, Jason Bobak.
"It was all my fault," Martel tells Bobak. "I was going to kill myself the night that happened because I just panicked. I tried to hide it."
Martel then describes to Bobak how he struggled with Rae: "We weren't fist-fighting, but it was darned close. It turned into a wrestling match.
"The knife was beside the bed. She picked up first and then it ended up inside her."
Martel's lawyer, Balfour Der, asked Bobak if he had ever witnessed Rae being "verbally aggressive" or "push [Martel's] buttons to get him riled up."
Bobak answered yes, adding, "it went both ways."

What a bunch of bull c***, the judge can't seriously believe his story.

I know this may come out as me being an a-hole, but why do they have to mention heavy-metal music? As if it isn't stereotyped enough. God knows they wouldn't have mentioned it if God's band Nickelback would have been playing.
I truly feel for her family though, that's f***ed up.

That Martel guy the murderer is a complete cowardly piece of trash.
Even more so that defence spindoctor Belfour Der JMO is heinous.
Any major crime in Calgary that is commited by people I would consider as having absolutly nothing to contribute to society. He defends them with ruthlessness against the police, the courts and against what is morrally right.
I hope that Sarah Rae's family and friends find peace.

Balfour Der is just doing his job. The worst people in the biggest cases in this town seek him out because he's the best and he used to work as the prosecutor. Everyone deserves adequate counsel.
If I were Der though, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. He can't be in it for the money. All the scumbag murderers, rapists, drunk cement truck drivers, etc. can't have that much money. I wonder what his motivation is.
