Default Office practical jokes

JBR's looking for the perfect office practical joke. Before Christmas, a co-worker found their stapler and phone headset in jello molds..

I've since been paid back with a few lame ones:
- desk drawers filled with styrofoam peanuts
- pens missing with a ranson note left on my desk.

I need a practical joke to end the madness. At this point, I consider everyone in the office a suspect and will "borrow" all computer mouse's (mice?) until my pens return. Jail and Bail is on my mind, but is not offerred right now. Nothing too drastic.

Ideas?

Take Jar

mix in equal parts mayo and water, mix until liquidy.

Put label on jar

(JBR's) sperm sample for doctors appointment do not touch.

Put in lunch room fridge, next to some yogurt cups.

while having a deep conversation at lunch reach into fridge without looking and accidentally grabbing the jar. Flip lid off while not looking, take a big spoon full and swallow it to the horror of your co-workers in the lunch room.

Question why it tastes so damn salty.

Don't miss your call with the HR department later on that day.

My favourite is simple yet quite humourous... Change the orientaion of a felloe employees screen... I like sideways

Press and hold the "Ctrl" and "Alt" keys on your keyboard. Press the corresponding arrow key on your keyboard for the direction to which you want to orient your screen.

Take screen shot of user's desktop.

Make screen shot the wallpaper.

Move all their icons somewhere else and hide the taskbar.

Ah, beat me to it...this one is great! Even better if you're close enough to hear them frantically double click and curse away at their computer that froze again...

Or instead of moving their icons, hide them. Then their taskbar and icons will still appear to be there but when they click on the icons nothing will come up. Madness!

I like this one but it doesn't seem to work. Thanks for the ideas. Keep them coming.

I like to download a wav file of some children's song. Usually The Wiggles... even a small clip of a song. Then I put it on their computer, and set it as the sound to play when they get a new email. Works great for when people leave Outlook open all day. Once Five Little Ducks, by The Wiggles mysteriously played all day long whenever my assistant got an email. Took him a while to correlate when the song played..

I also like to change the sounds around, like when they minimize a window an error sound will play, or when they close a program, the windows startup sound plays. Etc, etc. etc.

If they use a laser mouse (and who doesn't nowadays).....put a little piece of tape underneath to cover the laser.

Some figure this out quickly, most don't.

Seriously, three years later, I'm still using the keyboard. It's easier to improve your touch-typing than fix the damn thing afterwards. Probably the best (good quality, not mean, plenty playful) office gag I've ever had played on me.

Hmmm... that's too bad... Are you Windows 7? Seems to work on my XP Office at work... Sucks, because it is so simple yet so fun/frustrating for the unsuspecting coworker

This is my favourite:

In Word, go to Tools, Autocorrect Options. You'll see a box that says "Replace: XXXX With: XXXX". Then you can have fun from there.

For example, you replace "like" with "dislike" or "sounds good" to "sounds ######ing spectacular homeslice" so as they're typing it will automatically change those words without any beeps or notifications to them.

I've also changed my name on coworkers' computers from Sliver to My Lord. You can even change single words to full sentences, but obviously they'll catch on very fast if you do this. If I were you, I'd go for the more subtle approach.

Fake Windows error messages in their startup routine:
http://atom.smasher.org/error/

Get a wireless mouse, or a keyboard. Plug the receiver into the back of their computer. Then randomly move the mouse, click, or type stuff. Windows will allow more than one keyboard and/or mouse.

Stretch a tight layer of saran wrap over the toilet bowl so when somebody takes a piss it sprays everywhere. Only do this if you aren't over attached to your job though.

Tape down the receiver on the phone or

put hair gel on the headset

or both.

Weak.

Although, a little piece of scotch tape over the mic on their phone isn't a bad one.

My favourite prank involves putting a little piece of tape over either the end of an ethernet cable or a phone cable.

For the phone cable put it on the handset connection so that they phone rings and then when your victim picks up the phone he/she answers it, but they can't talk to the person.

Autocorrect is definitely a fun one to play around with. I removed the 'h' from as many words I could think of that start with the letter 'h' because my boss was French and never pronounced his h's

I had a co worker turn my office word and all other apps to different languages.

Took me a few hours to default them all back.. it was hard. He got me pretty good.

So what I did was the following:

1. Go to their computer when you know they are going to be away, MAKE SURE THE MOUSE POINTER IS NOT ON THE SCREEN, Print Screen

2. Delete all desk top icons and hide their task bar at the TOP of the screen (last place they will mouse over to find it)

3. After the desk top is completely empty, set the background to be the screen shot you just took.

What should happen, is they will restart a few times thinking their comp keeps freezing because they can't double click any programs. If they try to bring up Ctrl + Alt + Delete, no programs will be shown as running as well.

You must also disable the windows key:

To disable the Windows key, do the following steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedt32, and then click OK.
  2. On the Windows menu, click HKEY_LOCAL_ MACHINE on Local Machine.
  3. Click the System\CurrentControlSet\Control folder, and then double-click the Keyboard Layout folder.
  4. On the Edit menu, click Add Value, type in Scancode Map, click REG_BINARY as the Data Type, and then click OK.
  5. Type 00000000000000000300000000005BE000005CE000000000 in the Data field, and then click OK.
  6. Close the Registry Editor and restart the computer.

There are ways they can get around this, but depending on how computer savy they are it should fool them for a bit. Make sure your computer is password protected from this day forward

Edit: I just saw that Shazam beat me to it, I will leave this detailed description up however, including how to disable the windows key so they cant cheat.
