Windows 7 Upgrade

Hey CP, my mom dropped off a laptop with a windows 7 upgrade disc. I recently finished moving her XP files into a vista laptop, had I known she had an upgrade disc to 7 I would have upgraded first. Too late.

Has anyone done this upgrade yet? Does it do a clean install or do I simply throw the disc in and let it run? Do I have to back anything up (photos, favorites, etc.)?

A back up of files, and clean install is the way I always do it. Which is why I am being lazy and not upgrading right now.

If it's Vista then you can do an upgrade without having to reinstall etc, though I always prefer to do a clean install as well.

We've done a few Vista to Win7 upgrades, and they actually worked pretty well; this process has been much improved compared to previous MS efforts. Best make sure you have a backup of important files though, just in case.

Here is what happened for me.

Went from vista to windows 7

they put everything old in a windows.old folder.

www.winsupersite.com and check for instructions. I would backup before just in case as it appears for some reason results vary.
