This doesn't concern the people that have already committed to their path, because they've already made heir choices, it's about the people who may see this as just another kick in the nuts in a very difficult and sensitive rebuilding process that we are in over there.
And to assume the great majority of the innocent people over there (that would include Iran and Pakistan, since a great many of the insurgents come from those places) can't read or write English is flat out false. A great number of insurgents and easily influenced youths of North Africa/North America, Iran, and Pakistan are decently educated and can understand English. This has come to the forefront most recently with the plane scare in the USA. Not everyone that decides to train over there is from over there.

There you have it. You just made my point for me, thank you. Nothing has changed.

Okay... So are you trying to say everyone that is Islamic has already made up their minds about whether to fight the US or not? Because I don't get it.
The point I have been making (and the point you bolded) is that this does nothing but further push those that are on the line or even in the American camp away from them toward the extremists like the Taliban and those imams that preach jihad.
I am unconcerned with the extremists that are already fighting. I'm concerned about those that can still BECOME extremists.

And my point is, that the ones who have already decided they are going to be extremists, are going to be extremists. There is plenty of OTHER reasons they have joined the fight, so to speak, than the 'outrage' over a bunch of scopes having some numbers in them that could be referenced to some passages in the Christian Bible.
If they are going to fight 'us,' it's going to be for any other number of reasons than this, I assure you.

The whole point is that the US Military should cease orders from this company until the remove these, because its very simple; the Islamic militants use stories like this and Afghan Bibles being discovered in the hands of the US military to promote that this is indeed a religious war against the west.
Its a very vague and hard to spot thing, I'll agree. But now that we do know what they were doing these last 10yrs, time to tell the manufacturer to stop immediately and move on.

Problem Solved!
Easy solution... Rid the earth of all religion! ...or at least catagorize it properly, as a form of mental deficiency or ######ation of sorts...
*BAM* problems solved!!
Grown adults should not have so much belief in fairytales anyway... It's just not right... IMO

This is only one thing relating to the greater number of mistakes the US and the coalition has made in the area. The moment the military shrugs off little things like this is when they begin to build and mount and the war drags on for another 5 years.
You are underestimating the importance these people put in every single religious reference and significance they can find.

We should also categorize your mental deficiency as OCD since you post the same message in every thread pertaining to religion.

I didn't think I'd see the day I agreed with Thor in a thread about religion, but I think most people can agree with this.

I'm not underestimating anything. I know for a fact this will be used as ammunition against us. I'm not dismissing that.
All I am saying is at this point, it's pretty much throwing a bucket of gasoline on a forest fire. There will be a blast, but there is still a big ass fire burning uncontrolled in the back.

There is no reason to lower your insults to the lame and immature. Unless that's all you can come up with. If that's the case, just stay out of the discussion. Politics and religion are sensitive subjects and really don't need people coming into them just to toss around insults. If you want to discuss, feel free to do that. If you want to insult people's intelligence, the kiddie pool is ------------------------>

You'll eventually figure out issues related to religion are nearly impossible to change peoples views. Its best just to bite your lip even if you think its ridiculous.

Are the American soldiers over there allowed to wear crucifixes or carry bibles or carry anything that has a Christian meaning to it? Perhaps we should ban these from the battle field too? What about someone who has been wounded and he's praying to his Christian god for help? Should he or she be muzzled?
Muslim extremists could easily point to these examples as a justification for their holy war against the Christian infidels. I think having JN8:12 stamped on a rifle scope is just a drop in the bucket. If you go out looking for a nefarious meaning in something, you will probably find it.
All this controversy is just so silly.

Yeah, not much difference in inscribing biblical references on your weapons than when praying to your dead.

It's not even about changing people's views, it's about respect. His comments are childish and rude. I have no issue discussing why I believe with people who wish to discuss it and have done so many times, but drive-by insults are not welcome in any forum. Or at least, that was my impression.
I remember the days when the religion threads would be 20 pages long with nothing but insightful and respectful posts. It's been a long time since that level of mature discussion could occur.

Its funny, I wear my old dog tags and I started wearing them again when Canadian's started fighting and dying in Afghanistan. Its an easy reminder that we have young kids in the line of fire.
I just pulled them out and looked at them. Holy crap my blood type is O RH+, and my religan is RC.
How dare they inscribe my religion on my dog tags, I must be a former crusader.

Hah, mine are hanging on my wall with my Regimental Cap Badge and Land Force Badge and they indeed say RC as well. When I was sworn in I even got the option to put my left hand on the bible, which I did.

We get it.
so the constitution, the right to religion and freedom to worship means nothing to you because in your view I'm wrong.
If I was to say that the easy solution were to be the removal of zealots who believe their beliefs in religion or lack or religion supersedes other you would be willing to get in the back of the truck?
As a free person I have a right to believe in a god or the non existance of god, without someone calling me mentally deficiant or ######ed or stupid. What I don't have the right to do, and you seem to be an advocate of it is postulating on the removal of that right, or the suppression of that ability.
Now you can go with the same old line, well there's no proof of god, and I would respond, we might have an absense of proof in god, but science certainly hasn't accounted for every single reason why every single thing happens.
I have also not seen conclusive evidence that there is sentient alien life on other words, however I'm willing to go on faith that in this massive universe we certainly can't be alone, because if we were then whats the point of building a massive universe that we can't travel across.
It would be nice to tune down some of the more abusive and ugly anti religeous sentiment on this board, I know its cool and its fun, but at the same time your certainly taking runs at people who's belief in religion or belief in god fills a hole in their life.

Sadly I have all of my rank stripes, my unit beret, my UN peacekeeping ball cap, my unit flash. My unit ball cap and a couple of fairly cool unit T-Shirts including one I got in trade from the 101st airbourne in a box in storage.
