Last few gigs of all 5 seasons downloading right now, used to watch it religiously, then kind of lost interest when there was the large break in between episodes.
Looking forward to watching everything again all in a row, that is the best way to watch Lost IMO
I got into the show during it's second season, so I watched the first season a bit all in a row, no commercials. Amazing. Now commercials are beyond annoying, and having to wait a week between episodes is a pain.
However, I just re-watched the first five seasons, and I'm pumped to see how it ends. I never minded when they got more and more far out as I know they have a plan. I just hope they don't end like BSG, and go out on a good note.
I fully expect to not have all my questions answered, and have a somewhat weak ending (how can you have a solid amazing ending? Just doesn't happen in TV). I'm just hoping the ending doesn't outright suck.

I have a feeling we'll be blown away by Lost's ending. Every season finale of the show up to this point has been fantastic, and I don't think that'll change for the series finale. Lost has the best finales on television.

I swear that the last episode will feature no answers, a cliff hanger, and 20 minutes of JJ Abrams pointing at the screen and laughing while lighting cigars with $50.00 bills.

While I'm inclined to agree that Lost has had the best finales of any TV show, I mean the season 5 finale might be my favourite TV episode ever. Part of what makes them great is that they end with over arching questions, questions on a new direction or story line. You're sitting there going "what the Hell? I can't believe this happened, now what's up with that angle?" Whereas with the series finale you lose that element, which makes me cautious. It'll probably be the weakest of the season finales. Mind you Abrams seems to bring it for the finales, so who knows? I like that he has a direction and plan. So very well might be amazing. I think he'll leave it open to interpretation, I read an article saying they want people talking about it like the ending of the Sopranos.

Frankly, I think that would be an unreal ending. I have a warped sense of humour, and that would make me laugh thinking of how pissed everyone would be. Actually, now I want to see a series do that.

watched the first 4 seconds, then was NO, NO, I can't do this, I have to wait!!
There's something with everyone's fathers as well. Jack, Ben, John, Sun, everyone has an issue with their father, or their dad's aren't involved. That could correlate to the fertility issues somehow.
I could see a 'story of the bible' kind of ending. Jacob is God, John is Christ (dead and then brought back to life), the island is the garden of eden, Ben the devil who doesn't obey. Who knows though. It's something though, it's got to be!
I'm hoping it doesn't just end without a defined explanation, but I can't expect that. They always said that there was a beginning middle and end to the story. From the start they knew how it was going to end. But that doesn't mean that it will really explain anything. I hope it's exciting and resolves, I just can't wait, but part of me wants it to keep going so we keep wondering!

I think you may be on to something.
With Jacob and Jacobs nemesis... I have a feeling that it will be sorta a Jacob and Esau story. Jacob steals Esau's birthright(the island) and then iirc Esau becomes the leader of an army and then meets Jacob in some kind of battle but they don't fight and all live happily ever after. Not sure if they will end this show with out a big showdown... So we shall see.
Also I remember Ben playing the part of King David in one episode. He sent Goodwin in a position where he would likely die (Mr. Eko's camp) so he could pursue Juliette. King David did this to Bathsheba's husband... Can't remember his name. I do believe it was King David who did this though. Maybe it will be a David and Goliath thing with Ben and whomever... (Just fun longshot predictions now)
My recollection of these stories is a little shaky so you may want to look these up. Correct me if I am wrong.

It does have a lot of biblical stories and allusions to those types of stories. However, it's their own take on it and I don't think it's going to turn out to be a biblical story. In a weird and twisted sense, it's David and J.J's take on the world. So obviously it's going to draw on a lot of things that have resonated with them, but at the end we're not going to be able to point at one thing and say 'oh it's a bible story', because it's so much more than that.
I've never ever watched a single episode of Lost but I've read the entire wikipedia article on it and I think that is good enough.
BTW, when all the Dharma personnel and everybody that didn't have a gas mask was killed by island wide gas attack, how did the French lady (Rousseau) survive? Seems like a big plot hole.
My Brother Inlaw is hooked on this show, I saw a few "re-cap" episodes the other night as I've never watched it before, .....and then I thought:
How can you watch a show that's gone on for 5 seasons, with 9 thousand characters, Multiple plot twists, mutiple incidents of 30 year time travel, characters that never age and unexplained resurection?
Instead of watching the television show, I read the Lost wikipedia articles and I think that covers all I need to know to join in an internet discussion :P

The answer I got....."Cuz It's Good!"
I don't get it.
This is why instead of trying to following the show, I just read the wiki or wikia articles.
I learned a long time ago that the "secret conspiracy backstory" plot that is woven on a grand scale by these writers into these shows rarely pay off (probably since the X-Files) so instead of being hooked and left wondering every episode by a silly cliffhanger or unexplained happening, I will just read about it all when it's over. I don't watch TV anymore, I just read it and then put myself into the shoes of the people who were watching that live and imagine all the things they were thinking (like what the audience was thinking when they first found the hatch, etc.).
I don't really care about the plight or individual daily stories or soap opera squabbles of the day of the little characters, I just want to understand the overall arc and that's what interests me so I might as well just read about it.
^^ no offense, but that has to be one of the most bizarre things I have ever heard. ^^
More power to ya though.
Will you watch when it's done?
Probably not, I don't have the patience for it. I haven't sat down and watched a complete series being aired on TV or been hooked to anything since the 90s ended. I simply lose interest after a few episodes of anything. Eventually I just read the summaries. It's like the poster above me asked, how can you watch something with so many characters and timelines and things that yank your chain they sprinkle in every episode? I know with most TV shows the solutions eventually given to the audience usually left me wanting more or unhappy with the answers so reading about it all in a day puts less emotional investment into a show that you watch for years. These things never really paid off for me. It's the way these shows are written and these hooks are all really obvious to me and one of the reasons I don't like modern TV that much. The shows I do like and start to follow (Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles) seemed to get cancelled too so avoiding watching them saves me that pain LOL.
Probably the last show that I watched every episode of was...the original 90210 And I can't even remember it!
That said, I AM interested in the story of lost and was really fascinated for a day reading about all the mythology of the series and the backstory theories, etc. and I am fully open to talking about Season 6 in this thread. I just won't have watched it.
