The bad:
Fox has a history of latenight talk shows bombing. It remains to be seen whether this is demographics, or poor development.
Fox has a history of cancelling good shows, despite loyal fan followings. I'm not sure that they're really that much more honorable than NBC.
The good:
It's a better demographic fit - Fox's whole advertising and positioning is based on attracting younger viewers, the same sort who watch Conan.
Potentially good timeslot - If Fox puts him on at 11:00, as rumoured, he gets a half-hour head-start, and is going against the regional news on other networks. He'll also have lead-ins like Idol, Glee, Fringe, and X Factor.
More realistic expectations - he's competing against a legacy of rerun shows on Fox latenight, and he won't need to satisfy a lot of affiliates, since most are owned and operated by Fox.
Fox, as the number one network on TV right now, has a great stable of stars and reality TV personalities who fit with Conan's demographic, giving him an excellent crop of guests, as well as potential promotional tie-ins with ratings juggernauts like American Idol.
