Well, the section of Deerfoot you drive for each route is exactly the same. The difference is taking Sarcee vs Crowchild. Google maps says the Crowchild route is 4 kms shorter and 9 minutes faster than the Sarcee route. (From 130th Ave SE to Crowfoot)

Distance is not the factor, its traffic flow. Odd's are if you are driving to the North from the South for Hockey or Soccer.

Deerfoot/Glenmore/Crowchild is much faster.

I agree with the Glenmore -> Crowchild route

That being said, make sure when you turn onto Crowchild from Glenmore you get in the left hand lane before 17th Ave, it's the only one that goes through to the NW. The right hand lane turns off at Bow Trail and the centre lane turns off at Memorial Drive. The Bow-Crow interchange is a disaster...
