The front copy (the "original") bottom half does not transfer over to the accused's copy. It does not form part of the charge. It includes driver licence number, date of birth, MVID number, your licence plate, vehicle info, etc.

There is a difference in fine but to be honest, you'd be looking at around only $5-15 dollars. If that's worth going all the way downtown and dealing with it...

And to add that you're not getting any demerits regardless since its a registered owner ticket.

This kind of reminds of me of the racist transit cop thread.

I'm glad our tax dollars will be spent embroiled in this stupidity. You already know you were in the wrong, stop being such a weasel and take your lumps like an adult.

Why do you have to be such a ###### about it??

It is a service offered by the city, why would someone not take advantage of it and go and see the crown to get the fine reduced?

You know, I'm a pay-my-tickets kind of guy. It's my view of the world, and though I don't at all understand or agree with the 'fighting tickets when you know you're wrong' thing, I'm through berating people about it on here.

Are the courts less lenient with making changes to tickets issued in playground zones? Honest question.

Just because it's a service offered, doesn't mean its open season to abuse it.

It's meant to be used when there clearly is some doubt involved, not when you want to save a few bucks even though you already know you're in the wrong. I'd love to see a figure on how much tax dollars are spent on this bs of always fighting tickets regardless of merit. That's the real ######ry here, not me calling it for what really it is.

Get some dignity, but above all learn from it. Something tells me this guy has learned nothing, nor will he.

I guess that is totally a "YMMV." I have had police give me warnings for speeding instead of a ticket, and once when I couldn't find the registration the officer made me promise to drive right to the DMV to get it re-printed instead of giving me the ticket.

If you talk the way you write, you might be able to put the whole court room to sleep. Try that, and you will get off. I think I fell asleep twice reading your story just to find out the wife got two tickets and she was guilty of both.

Get some dignity, but above all learn from it. Something tells me this guy has learned nothing, nor will he.
I've used the so-called fine reduction line in the past (double ticket, speeding in playground zone on a road I'd never been on, forgot registration, total fines close to 300), and from the way my conversation went, the Justice was willing to reduce the overall fine / points based on a clean record.

This may not be the case for everyone, and certainly may be open to abuse. However, for the average joe who gets a ticket once in a blue moon, I do think there should be some leniency in the system. To me the OP doesn't sound like he or his wife are regular offenders (could be wrong), and frankly if I'm willing to invest the time (which is non-trivial), then I don't see anything undignified about benefiting from my previous careful driving.

Here are the fines levied under the Alberta Traffic Safety Act and Regulations: http://www.qp.alberta.ca/574.cfm?pag...=9780779738533

Here are the demerits related to various offences: http://www.saferoads.com/drivers/enf...t_demerit.html

70 in a 50 zone (20 km/hr over the limit) will net you 3 demerits and a $124 fine. If you plead to 68 in a 50 (18 km/hr over the limit) you will still get 3 demerits and a $113 fine. If, however, you could plead to 65 in a 50 (15 km/hr over the limit) you would get 2 demerits and an $89 fine.

I once volunteered on a project that had some Cops for volunteers. I asked one of them about his job. He told me that Front Tint=Gangbanger in his eyes.
He doesn't pull over everyone with tint, but that's the only excuse he needed, as it was illegal. We were not talking about factory tint, but the blacked out "cool" kind that people put on. Oh, and backwards hats. If you wear your ball cap backwards, his attention will perk up, as "that's what punks do".

I try to abide laws while driving, but, sometimes speeding will happen. So, I would never do any thing that gives the cops an excuse to get me for sure.

YES, I know some of you with tint aren't Homies, I'm just passing it on, G. Those with backwards hats or their hoodies up on a warm day though...

I'm gonna show it to him. But I don't really think there is a moral. I just found it funny that I saw his name at the bottom.

What's their take on the guy with backward cap driving a truck with tinted windows and truck testicles?
