Spiderman 4 scrapped.
http://www.deadline.com/hollywood/ur...eboot-planned/
Sony Pictures decided today to reboot the Spider-Man franchise after franchise director Sam Raimi pulled out of Spider-Man 4 because he felt he couldn't make its summer release date and keep the film's creative integrity. This means that Raimi and the cast including star Tobey Maguire are out. There will be no Spider-Man 4. Instead, Mike Fleming is told, the studio will focus on a Summer 2012 reboot from a script by Jamie Vanderbilt with a new director and a new cast.
Tobey Maguire just released this statement: “I am so proud of what we accomplished with the Spider-Man franchise over the last decade. Beyond the films themselves I have formed some deep and lasting friendships. I am excited to see the next chapter unfold in this incredible story.”

I read another source that the reboot will focus on Peter Parker in High School. Spiderman 90210!

I guess that means Sam will now be moving onto the World of Warcraft movie ahead of schedule.

a couple things about the spiderman movies regarding your post.
They took Peter out of highschool too early IMO. I understand trying not to alienate your audiences down to high school kids, but a lot of peter parkers stories and enemies revolve around his high school relationships. Part of this I think is casting the role too old. I didnt mind McGuire but I think if they had gone with someone younger they could have explored this a little more. They should basically just copy the Spectacular Spiderman cartoon series because it is very good.
I also think they need to wait a while before this starts production. I mean 2012 is not far off and theyll probably start pre-production and casting soon. Meaning the media will be talking about it soon and I think the spiderman franchise is too fresh in the minds of people to reboot. Theyll have to do something similar to The Incredible Hulk. People are already familiar with the origin story they have to kind of start somewhere in between him getting his powers and becoming full fledged spiderman. I dont think this will do nearly as well at the box office.

$20 says it is Chris Pine as Spiderman.
I for one am happy they decided to reboot it. Toby Maguire was a doofus, although tolerable, and Kirsten Dunst just isn't hot.
They also ruined Venom who IMO is the best Villain ever.
Looking forward to see who eventually is picked as Spiderman though and to see who the villains are.

seems odd to reboot spiderman so soon. I get why they did it with the Hulk, as the first one blew. But the first 2 spiderman's are/were some of the most popular and highest grossing movies of our time. They will never outdo the numbers of those films so anything they do will be seen as a failure.

I disagree. People will still watch the reboot and it will make a buttload of money.

Box of donuts on Shia Labeouf as Peter Parker. That kid just has a knack for ruining all my treasured childhood franchises.
Or maybe Robert Pattinson if they feel like going all 'Dark Knight' with the atmosphere. Another box of donuts says he spends more time topless than he does in the Spider-Man outfit.

Another reboot? Is this the super-hero fad now?

All we need to do is get rid of Snaggletooth as well. Kirsten Dunst should have gone as well, but that's just me.
The only bad thing is that there's not going to be anymore Bruce Campbell cameos.

^Though if it means we get Bruce as a raging undead-slaying Paladin in the Warcraft movie, that's a tradeoff I'm willing to take.

2012 because this is what they had proposed for fans for Spiderman 4 and also it is rumored they want to have a Spiderman cameo in the Avengers movie.
I liked Spiderman 1 and 2, I thought that three sucked.
I am not a big marvel fan, I pay attention to the story lines but I don't read the comics.. however Spiderman is one Marvel character I actually give two craps about and I am glad they are rebooting this franchise. It was headed down a slippery slope of villain dependent movies. They need to spend more time developing the character, half of his comics are about internal dialogue. I'd like to see Quinton Tarentino get a shot at a Spiderman scene or two.

so the question is who would you want to play spiderman, and who would you want to direct?
There was some rumours a while ago that Patrick Fugit would be doing a reboot version of spiderman after spiderman 3 bombed. I wouldn't mind that. And hes young enough that they can get away with him being in school for longer
