Hadn't checked this thread in a while. That sounds like the right model but to be honest: I bought the thing, configured it, shoved it behind my monitor and have never had to touch it so i've completely forgot about it and have taken things like the model number for granted.

I'd like to tell you I'll check when I get home from work but that's probably a lie because I'll forget.

Older Linksys WRT-54G routers are better than newer ones. Linksys dinked around with the firmware and reduced the amount of onboard memory in later models making it harder to install third-party (read: way awesomer) firmware and generally reducing the stability of the router.

Mine is only about 3 years old but at the time the older ones were still available if I had looked around a bit harder. I thought newer = better but alas and alack.

I wouldn't say Linksys made it harder to mod their routers - they simply moved to technology that was more SoC (system on a chip) that does TCP/IP in silicon instead of in software. That's also why the casual user no longer has to pay $250 (remember when the basic 10 megabit 4 port wired only Linksys cost that? I do...) to get a router that meets the needs of 98% of the populace.

This is correct, but the sub-optimal way to do it. The issue is that if your laptop is wirelessly pulling the video file from the Time Capsule, and streaming it wirelessly to the AppleTV, you have effectively doubled the wireless bandwidth required while streaming. If you try and stream HD video this way, you might find you don't have enough bandwidth available to do it without stutters. Rewinding and fast-forwarding could be painful too.

This is based on my experience with an Airport Extreme running in N/G mixed mode. The new dual radio units might perform a bit better, because you can isolate the laptop and AppleTV on the 5ghz N band, I dunno

WRT160N for me. Had to change the channel from the default setting when I got it (barely worked at all) and have since had 100% connectivity.
