That was hands down the worst game I've seen from the Hitmen all year...I hope Shultz is back in the lineup soon...

So.. the Giants traded away Jamie Tucker to the Raiders this morning. I guess they're going with Segal in goal who they picked up from the Nanaimo Clippers about a month ago.
The west is wide open heading into the deadline.

Since becoming a Rebel season ticket holder a couple years back there hasn't been very many visiting goalies that had to come in and steal a game for their team but it happened last night. The Rebels were clearly the better for more than 30 minutes last night but Segal was real good. He made numerous big saves to keep the Giants alive. At one point the shots were 26-14 Red Deer but the score was 4-2 Giants.

Once again the Hitmen's biggest rival handed them a loss on Thursday night, the loss makes it 3 straight for the Hitmen.
The Ice have to be one the league's best team since probably November or so. They are really rolling along and I sure wouldn't want to face them in the playoffs. They really play well against the Hitmen.
The more the Hitmen play the more I realize that despite the good record, this team is probably more of a middle of the road team. They lack scoring depth, they can run around in their own zone, they are lacking work ethic and 60 minute efforts. In saying that, they are probably one or two players from being able to compete in a 7 game series with the big boys (Brandon, Saskatoon, Med. Hat). I think there somewhat of a chemistry issue as well, not in terms of players not getting along with each other, but when the Hitmen are having 4 or 5 healthy scratches a night, the players don't know from one game to another who is going to go to battle with them.

The Giants are going to kill the Hitmen tomorrow. This team just isn't right. They aren't mentally prepared. Nobody is anticipating the play well, so it is mostly station to station play, pass to someone standing around, not moving their feet. Rather surprised the Ice only got two goals, actually.

19-4-1-2 since October 30th I think. You're right they're on fire and looked really good rolling through BC in December.
One hopes (from a Kootenay-centric point of view) that they aren't peaking too early. Once Jones and Kozun are off their WJC disappointment, Calgary will be just fine.
The Giants/Hitmen game will be tough to call. Calgary has been the Giants' daddy for the last couple of years. A big game like that could be just what the doctor ordered.

The Hitmen played probably the most complete game we've seen them play all year...loved it.
On a side note, signed up for my World Jr tickets today...who else has bought the tickets?

Yeah a much better effort tonight as well. The new line combos seemed to work alright as well. It will be an interesting 12-15 hours leading up to the trade deadline. Lots of speculation from Kamloops that the Hitmen and Blazers are going to hook up for a trade, a couple names coming this way could be Jimmy Bubnick or Tyler Shattock. And I still think that the Hitmen land Sbisa tomorrow as well. Deadline is 3 pm Calgary time tomorrow.

The new line combos worked really well last night. I commented all game on how much I liked them.
My STH neighbors seem to think that the Hitmen won't make any moves. Brandon is stocking up for the Memorial Cup and is driving the prices up to a point that Kisio won't pay.

Yeah Kisio really is stuck between a rock and a hard place because if he is able to acquire a good forward and top defenceman, the Hitmen very well could make a run but the Wheaties have a good team and will likely get better today. They really need a goalie imo but there are not that many top goalies available.

This, frankly, is one of the reasons why the Flames needed to bid hard for this tournament. You don't think the CHL would have killed itself to have 19,289 fans at its feature game? The Flames stupidity in not wanting to book the arena "just in case" might well ensure that a lesser Western team gets a gift passage to the Memorial Cup.
Personally though, if I am Kisio, I'd go for it. We are one of the teams that can beat Brandon. You don't know how long you can remain at the top, so being timid about it won't do us anything good.

It hasn't been announced yet but the Hitmen have sent Austin Madaisky, Chase Schaber and a pick to the Blazers for Jimmy Bubnick, Tyler Shattock, and Zak Stebner. Huge trade for the Hitmen. I don't think Kisio is done yet.

IMO, they have to be one of the teams in the running for him. Just over 35 minutes until the deadline.

If they are to acquire him what do you think Calgary would give Lethbridge to get him?

The Pats have called a 5pm News Conference. I am assuming they have dealt Eberle and / or Tuebert.

My guess would be one of Kosterman or Rissling and picks. Maybe a 17 year old forward.

Yeah lots of speculation coming from Saskatoon that they made a "big" trade, my guess is Eberle to Saskatoon.
