Word of the Decade and Word of the Year (2009)
Not very surprising when you think about it, but it does raise an interesting question: Can these even be considered words and do they in anyway prove our society is degenerating in front of our very eyes? In a world full of AIDS, poverty, and climate change, it's kinda alarming to see these words are what the majority of us are obsessing about.
*PS: I used google to find this link
Have a look: http://network.nationalpost.com/np/b...he-decade.aspx

What you want AIDs to be the word of the decade?
Google is one of the things that has created awareness about all these things. You think back in the seventies or even earlier, people had any idea about things like this? Google allows people to access information, contribute and donate.
You should be thanking Google if anything.

I don't know why, but I was expecting "truthiness" to be the word of the decade.

Too bad it came so late in the decade but "transgressions" would have been that word.

It’s defined as: “a verb meaning ‘to search the Internet.’ Generic form of the trademarked ‘Google,’ the world’s dominant Internet search engine.”

Doesn't that pretty much invalidate the trademark?

It's not a purse, it's called a satchel. Indiana Jones wears one.

That's appropriate since only ######s listen to CBC radio.
I think it's hard to argue with "google" being the word of the decade. Reminds me of this video: http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1915736

So, we could give the last word of the decade to "transgressions"?
