i just don't see how texas' schedule was that tough. OSU and texas tech both lost to houston and lost 4 games. OU had a rough year, as we all know. A&m, Baylor, and Kansas were BAD. Nebraska and Mizzou are decent. i guess louisana-monroe was the non-conference powerhouse there.
Seriously though, texas schedule was pretty weak for the mighty big 12.

I'm just not sure. I wish he had played the whole game but dont forget that first drive tejas had the ball on the one yard line and couldn't punch it in.
I'm just saying that if it were me it would take an army of doctors to keep me off the field for that game.
Hell Tebow played the outback bowl with a broken wrist and a couple of games with a seperated shoulder. But thats not here or there I wish bama won with McCoy playing. I didn't have a dog in the fight, Yes I was kinda pulling for bama but I wouldn't shed a tear if they lost. I just love the fact all these rammer jammers down here are saying "13" national titles lol

Did McCoy his father and agent predetermine this to aviod injury going into the draft. I don't know but it is cause for debate.
Point being if this was the game to to get into the national championship and improve his chance to win the Heismen. McCoy fights through it and plays.
I'm not a Texas fan but the games I saw McCoy play in this year he took some pretty hard pops and played through pain showed heart and came back.
Lastnight was not a reflection of that.
Seems to me that he was persuaded by those close to him look beyond a National Championship and think of his NFL career.
A few things came out of that BCS game, Alabama is all Run and behind Ingram who is going to be a beast in the NFL. Saban will be able to continue that style with Richardson next year. Their passing game is awful. Great Defence. Fantastic Punter.
Texas Great Defence, Next to no Run Game. Shipley is truly a talent to have his normal stats with a no name back up.
Gilbert was forced to grow as a QB. Showed some flashes that he is ready.
Kindle is going to a DE to watch in the NFL.

There's no way McCoy was faking anything. The kid has been all Texas football for 4 years. There is absolutely no way he's taking himself out of a National Championship game in order to preserve himself for the NFL draft. Honestly, does everything have to be a conspiracy? And your evidence is what? The hit didn't look that bad? Other hits he took during the season looked worse?

McCoy couldn't feel his arm. He threw in the locker room and couldn't get any throws on target. You don't have a chance winning a football game if your qb can't throw straight. Plus unlike Tebow, McCoy can't walk on water. But I guess McCoy will be happier making tons more money than Jesus in the NFL.

Again, how exactly do you fight through an inability to feel your arm?

According to ESPN Carroll is leaving USC to take over the Seahawks. Whether his motivation is getting out before the NCAA cracks down, or a desire to prove he can coach in the NFL, this sure shakes things up in the Pac10.

Wow that'd be a huge blow to SC. There's no doubt that they'd still have a great team for the next couple years but I wonder what this would do to recruiting seeing how Carroll is one of the best recruiters out there.

Huge news.
Seattle fans have to be doubly pleased. They get a great coach in Carroll (although it remains to be seen what he does in the NFL) and a Pac-10 rival loses the best coach in the conference.

Dude is a great coach and has been at it for 35 years now. He is 33-31 alltime in the NFL in 4 seasons and made the playoffs twice, winning his division once with the Patriots.
Quote:
Patriots owner Robert Kraft said firing Carroll was one of the toughest decisions he has had to make since buying the team, stating "A lot of things were going on that made it difficult for him to stay, some of which were out of his control. And it began with following a legend."
|
If he gets complete control in Seattle, including player personell decisions, I can see him turning that team around and becoming very good.
He knows virtually everyone in football (Pro and college), and that never hurts.
Selfishly i want him to remain at USC, but I certainly can understand him wanting to take a run at the pros once again....as he has nothing left to prove at the college level.

He's a great college coach I'll give you that easily top 3 right now. His NFL team got progressively worse. Yeah he won a division title with Parcells team then was a wild card and then missed the playoffs. I'll even give it to you that he is decent NFL head coach. I just don't think he has what it takes to win a super bowl. Saban has shown that you aren't necessarily good in the NFL even if you are one of the best in college. It's like Bob Knight says he would only coach pro ball if he was paid more than his highest paid player because it isn't worth dealing with the egos. He could prove me wrong, but I just don't see it.

not only do they want 1.3 mil they want a % of ticket sales too.
But once say florida goes to boise (hahaha like thats going to happen) they wont pay florida money for playing in Boise.
If they want to be treated like a big boy quit acting like a Florida international and act like a power house.

Carrol leaving USC makes sense. They aren't what they were. The program is dirty oh i'm sorry bends the recruiting rules and he knows it. Time to bail.
He will probably also try to rip Norm Chow from UCLA to go to the NFL with him doing USC a big favor.
Bye Pete Carrol won't miss you one bit.

Earl Thomas going to the Draft. No surprise will be a top 15 pick and his family's life was destroyed by Katrina. One player you definitely can't blame for making this decision even if he was only a sophmore.

Bitter much?
There isnta single large program in the country that doesnt bend the rules or outright ignore them.
Dirty...haha. good one. And Chow is one of the best offensive minds in college history...good pick up for Carroll if he can get him.

I think Carroll is a great college coach. I also think he knows the hammer is going to come down on the program for the bush saga and now mcKnight.
USCw tried to bring the hammer down on the basketball program hoping that would save the football program. But with Pete leaving I see the hammer coming down soon. Probably no bowl game for 2 years, loss of scholarships and games on TV.
Also for the dirty recruiting practices.... Take a Look at tennesee program. They have hookers and a bunch of other things... Oops I mean hostesses not hookers.

You don't think Bama has Hook... um hostesses? They were the originators!
I'm pretty sure every major college has a program like this.

According to the legends, the practice was first instituted in the 1960's by Bear Bryant at Alabama. His Bear's Angels became a staple of the college recruiting landscape, and in their own way, became more famous than the recruits themselves.
|
Quote:
The groups were all given cutesy names like the Texas Angels, the Hurricane Honeys, the Bengal Babes, the Stately Ladies, the Black-Eyed Susans, the Tigerettes, the Crimson Courters (Bear's Angels eventually became the 'Bama Belles) and recruit heavily from the school's sororities. (Those ladies are very big into public relations!)

No doubt the Gators have their own "Gator Gals" or something to that effect. They're likely some of the best looking of the bunch. Timmy has probably plowed his way through 3/4 of them by now...
