Police confirmed on Sunday that Assou-Ekotto is facing an investigation into the incident.
A spokesman said: "The police are investigating an allegation of assault following yesterday's Spurs v Wolves Premier League match at White Hart Lane. There have been no arrests."

Man Arsenal is frustrating, huge win on the weekend only to choke against Burnley. Really need to get it together.

It's not in the Prem but there is a huge match in League One this weekend, Charlton v Millwall. It's the first derby match in 13 years and I really hope my mate got me a ticket cause they aren't even selling tickets on match day. It's my bday too, the Addicks might give me the best gift this year!

The game will be called within 10 Minutes from the Millwall fans tearing the place apart and trying to kill someone.

Round up of transfer rumours from the UK media with selected snippets.
Quote:
Argentine striker Sergio Aguero will be offered to Chelsea and Manchester rivals United and City for £40m by his club Atletico Madrid. Chelsea were favourites to sign the 21-year-old, but discussions on his personal terms have stalled.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is desperate to sign a target man in January, with Sunderland's Kenwyne Jones, Manchester City's Roque Santa Cruz and Liverpool old boy Emile Heskey all on his wanted list.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti could see his extremities turn blue if he goes back on a promise not to sign anyone during the January transfer window.
The Premier League leaders, who have had a transfer ban suspended, will be deprived of several first-team players during the African Cup of Nations, but Ancelotti has promised to run naked in the snow if they dip their toe into the winter market.

Can anyone clarify? If Aguero was to go to either United or Chelsea would he be champions league eligible or not? i.e. Isn't there something in there re eligibility dependent on the stage of the competition, i.e. they're now in a new stage?

I'm not sure that I'd believe anything the Daily Star or Daily Mirror has to say. Otherwise, doesn't it have to do whether or not the player in concern has played in any UEFA club matches that season? I think this is the ruling,
UEFA Regulations of the Champions League
VIII Player Eligibility, Article 17 - General provisions
Excluding the three rounds of the UEFA Intertoto Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, and subject to paragraph 17.18 below, a player may not play UEFA club competition matches for more than one competing club in the course of the same season. A substitute player who is not fielded is entitled to play for another club competing in the same season’s UEFA club competitions, provided that he is registered with the UEFA administration in accordance with the present Regulations.
My take is that he would be cup-tied if he played for Atletico in the group stages.

Agreed about the Star but my impression was that whilst they are tabloid rags I found when I was over there that more often than not it was the likes of the Mirror and Sun and were best and first to break the exclusives regarding soccer news well ahead of the broadsheets.
The quality of the rest of the paper .... no argument there.

Once a player makes an appearance on the pitch for any team in any part of the Champions League, he is cup tied to that team until the following season. No exceptions. In this case, Aguero actually scored against Chelsea if I remember correctly! There's no way he can play for Chelsea in the CL until August 2010.

What is going on with Wigan this season? Talk about highs and lows.
Manchester United pumped them 5-0 for the second time this season.
Arsenal and Portsmouth beat them 4-0.
Tottenham had the wonder 9-1 win.
Yet they beat Chelsea and Villa, and draw Manchester City.

What a thing of beauty, Leeds United dumping Man U out of the FA Cup.
Already claims of it being one of the greatest upsets in the history of the FA Cup. Certainly one of my favorite results. I love The Football League.

Why was Ferguson moaning about added time again? "The referee gave five minutes. That is an insult to the game and the players out there."
How much time should he have added on?
(Cue a minute by minute analysis from Bagor on why approximately 45 minutes should have been added on!)
Nice to see the other United pull out the win.

Feel kind of bad they got knocked out, but kind of good at the same time. No need to worry about additional (and these days somewhat meaningless) fixtures going ahead.

The FA Cup is never meaningless, not even these days. It's the oldest club competition in the world and means a whole bunch to people from England.
It ticked me no end when Benitez put out a weakened team a few seasons back and Liverpool got knocked out because of it. The outcry he received made him change his tune for the following season.
I understand where you're coming from but I don't agree with it. League Cup, yes. FA Cup, no.

This really shouldn't be much of a surprise, especially after losing to a League One side. Fergie will usually find something apart from his squad's poor play, to complain about after a loss. This time it happened to be the amount of added time. Next time it will be the away fans' chants or the fitness of the SKY Sports commentators. But to be fair, he did save his harshest words for his squad. Leeds deserved that win and I don't think that there was much he could say other than what he did.
