Default Jackets Aquire Josh Harding

Eh Oh Canada Go News

In a late night deal with the Colorado Avalanche, GM Penney traded prospect Michael Grabner for goaltender Josh Harding.

"With the Pavalec deal and now this one, we feel we have two excellent young goaltenders moving forward" says Penney. "We feel that although Harding is having an off year, he has the ability to rebound and become a #1 goaltender down the road.

Thanks to Patrick for the trade talks.

I think Grabner is a top notch prospect. I wasn't sold on Harding, sure he might be a #1 down the road but I am thinking 2-3 years minimum. He is having a pretty brutal year this year for a guy who is "the next top goalie".

Greiss is the reason why I let Harding go, he is the full time backup in San Jose and is playing quite well. I think he has higher potential then Harding so that's why I made this deal.

Couldn't you say the same for Grabner. 2-3 years until he is in the NHL full time? Or at least 2-3 years before he has a usable CPHL rating?

I like players who can play for me now. Harding is already in the NHL, Grabner is not.

Young goalies are harder to come by. Guys like Grabner are a dime a dozen IMO.
