I was bored after a month. I guess playing NHL 09 for a solid few months before release had me in. NHL 10 is just annoying. Ranked VS games are crap and the EASHL is filled with people who don't know how to play offense, don't pass, or are cheaters.

the more I hear about this game the more I'm glad I didn't rush out and buy it. I might still get it for christmas, but at least I won't be paying for it. I don't mind playing the demo once in a while, but it sounds like everything outside of the actual gameplay is not all that great, and the gameplay isn't good enough to make up for it. I could be wrong, but that's the impression I'm getting from all that I've read about it from people who have been playing for a while.

i enjoy it just as much as last year. i have played it almost as much. just more offline play since the eashl team isn't as active this year.
i can understand not wanting to spend 60 bucks each year unless the game makes drastic changes, but i feel like this version was a decent step forward. it wasn't a breakthrough like the skill stick or be a pro mode, but still a good game.

I love it. Expectations were just so high because of the quality of previous products that any minor flaw is being droned on and on about on the the internet. It's much better than last year and a hell of a lot of fun.

yea, there is that fact about the high expectations. 09 was such a huge jump forward from the previous 4-6 years that people expected another dramatic difference. Also the fact that on the internet for every one positive post made about something there's usually about 100 negative ones. I do kind of hope I get it for christmas because I know it won't totally suck, but I'm fine with my 09 even if I don't get it. It also helps that the friend I play online with mostly hasn't upgraded either, so I still get a lot of use out of 09.

We weren't as active because we split the teams. If we'd made just one team, we'd still all be playing

Cross crease passes. Go to practice mode and get good enough at dekeing that you can beat a goalie one-one occasionally. Shots from the point. Try to get wristers top shelf coming from behind the net. Wraparounds work but I'm not too good at them.

No No No...start to line em up once they cross the red line, then Scott Stevens their heads to the ice when they cross the blue line, either cutting cross or coming down the wing into the boards
Literally injuring at least one opponent every game, with either Reggie, Phaneuf, Giodano, Sarich or Gautier, sometimes Boumeester too

Interesting. Personally I like it more than '09. I'm still really new to '10(stupid school), and hence I'm brutal at it, but I like the changes I'm seeing. I'm just sooo happy I don't have to put up with all the garbage interference plays and pick and rolls the computer would use in '09. My guy in the slot wouldn't even have the puck yet and the computer would just take his head off as the pass was coming and there'd be no call, it drove me absolutely crazy. '09 was like late 90's play-off hockey.
I like how the goalies give out dirty rebounds in this one too, they were too superhuman in '09. I find the puck alot more lively, and realistic in this one. So far I'm enjoying it, though I'm just awful.

I turned up the hit power, turned up the difficulty and turned up the computer injury rate and pretty much spend the season using Phaneuf, Regehr, Bouwmeester and Tyler Myers, Glenncross and Keith Aulie to injure every top player on every team i face.
Especially Havlat, Burrows, Zetterberg, Hemsky, Morrow, Ovechkin, Kane, Hossa, Demitra, Kovalchuk, Huselius, and Tanguay.
It is the only way the game is any fun anymore.

I find driving to the net is a great way to score goals.
I have a serious nose for the twine.

By the time you are good at it, you'll hate it for all the shortcomings you are going to find. I think that's what most of us are finding...it's a love/hate relationship all the way this year.
