What would u recommend between Always Sunny and How I met your mother...I watched the first couple seasons of HIMYM but I didn't like it so much, I've been hearing a lot about it as of late so has it gotten better? Barney and Jason Segel alone would make me consider getting back into it.

between the two I would go with Always Sunny, How I met your mother is a lot like Friends, so if you really really liked friends I would go with that but Always Sunny is more of a comedy
The Big Bang Theory is better than both though

Shows I have seen in their entirety:
Lost
The Office
Arrested Development
Dexter
Weeds
Breaking Bad
Freaks and Geeks
South Park
Band of Brothers
Entourage
I've been looking into getting into the Sopranos or something like Heroes. Yay or nay?

I'm on Season 3 right now but I loved the first two seasons so idk. I'd go with Always Sunny I suppose.
gotta agree with the other guy though! big bang theory's really funny too.
being able to watch tv on the internet is awesome (and dvd's if you're not a broke student). You see so many more shows but never have to deal with the commercials.
and you didn't have lost on your list. for shame.

Outside of Barney HIMYM is 100% friends, there are episodes that are completely lifted from old friends episodes.
including last weeks one about quitting smoking
I like HIMYM and think its very funny and better than friends, but the similarities are there. I was just giving a show to compare it too, its more of a comedy drama than a straight comedy like Always Sunny or the Big Bang theory

I do, and only first season of 24 at the season finale was almost comparable to dexter season 4 finale. Still I think Dexter was far better in shock value.

the word you're looking for is sitcom, but yes, they're both very similar.
actually i would almost put big bang theory in the same category too.

sitcom isn't the right word because well it technically is a sitcom it has too many types of things in it. For example Seinfeld was a sitcom that had no serious drama in it, HIMYM and Friends have both had episodes with Drama.
Dramedy is a better word, even though its not a word
I personally wouldn't put the big bang theory in that category, but HIMYM and even the Office fit there

Go watch Rome.
Only 2 seasons. Tells the story of a centurion (or whatever he is exactly) during the time of Julius Caesar. It is absolutely fantastic.

I know what you're thinking. Both very shocking, but I find that the character development in Dexter was stronger (probably due to the fact it built over several seasons).

"Rescue Me" is one of my favourite shows on TV. It's gotten stale in the last year or so, but seasons 1 - 3 are cutting edge television.
It's a crew of fire fighters in New York post 9/11. Dennis Leary stars and writes and I was never a fan of his until I started watching the show. It's flat out brilliant.
The range from hilarious laugh-out-loud comedy to touching drama is really wide. It's a dynamic show.

When my wife and I first moved to the south and started to take the train every day we downloaded all 5 seasons of The Wire. Looking back I can't believe we got through them so quickly. Excellent excellent show.

I highly doubt they don't continue the show from where they left off. They have no choice, you can't fast forward the morning after his discovery, it's the most important day of his life.
I liked this season and the ending was great yes, but it wasn't better than season 2 and for some reason, I remember the "discovery of bodies" scene being more climatic to me.
Another thing I don't like is that in terms of shock value and surprise, the show will have nothing to offer anymore, unless Dexter dies in the end. Only that will top it.
Nonetheless, the show has been great so far, I can't compare it to other nominations in its category as I haven't seen all, but I'd like to see it win. But Six Feet Under never won, and it's as perfect a series as you can get. Poor Michael C Hall.

Okay I know I'm a few weeks late here, but HO-LY EFF!
All season Rita was so annoying that I secretly hoped that Dexter was going to take care of her, but I could not even believe that they actually did kill her off. I thought the whole season was wrapped up almost a little too neatly, but then as soon as Dexter was listening to the message and Rita said she had to come back to get her ID, I knew she was dead. I'm still getting chills thinking about it!
After watching the finale though, I really felt like that was the beginning of the end. I just have a feeling that season 5 will be the last one. It seems like this finale was the start of Dexter's demise, his wife is dead, Deb know's he's related to the Ice Truck Killer and its only a matter of time before she figures out what he is too. I think season 5 will see Dexter just going off the walls crazy.
But then again, who knows what'll happen, seems like the writers are really able to keep the viewers on our toes!
