It is going to be another long season for Toronto fans. With Toronto's best player Doc Halladay gone, who will take the leadership in this team. I am tired of the always rebuilding year for the Blue Jays. It's nice that they have some good prospects but how long will these guys stays or develop. As I remembered Wells and Rios were supposed to a good prospects back then. Both players signed big contracts later on but did not deliver. Hopefully the new guys won't follow Wells and Rios' path or else we won't be seeing a lot of people in the Skydome in the future.

I'm not sure when the rebuilding years have been taking place? How long was JP in charge? 7 years?, for the most part particularly the past 3 or 4 years the Jays have been spenders trying to make the playoffs. 16 years and counting on a playoff appearance and now they are going to ask fans to be patient and show up to a ballpark that has very few MLB quality players? Good luck Toronto.

As for the Taylor for Wallace swap, I'm not surprised at all because my 2 connections in Oakland told me last year that Beane was trying to get him in a Holliday deal. I think that is a deal that will work out for both sides.

They'll keep getting 15K to the park but their payroll will likely be around 60 mill after the vets are gone. Theres the revenue sharing so they'll be fine.

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed veteran catcher John Buck(notes) to a $2 million contract for next season, and agreed to a minor league deal with right-hander Lance Broadway(notes) that includes an invitation to spring training.

The 29-year-old Buck hit .247 with eight homers and 36 RBIs in 59 games for the Kansas City Royals last year

I agree but at least they seem to be making all of the right moves under the new leadership...

They have more than doubled the scouting dept (great move).
They have a pile of draft picks in this year's draft (good thing)
Halladay move is a decent trade...

Key for the Jays is to draft extremely well, spend the money on the prospects. This will allow the Jays to get competitive in quick fashion.

I hated JP strategy of signing the old guys to huge deals.

A lot of cards need to fall into place to build off of last years results but I wouldn't be surprised to see them hover around .500 all year if they can get some pitchers healthy.

.... and the drama continues.

Somebody failed their physical and talks are ongoing. There are conflicting reports that it was Drabek or Aumont.

Figures.

Well after about 100 tweets in the last 30 minutes, this is what they've come up with.

MLBastian

Doc, Lee, Aumont, Gillies & Ramirez apparently not the issue. That leaves Wallace, Drabek, Taylor, d'Arnaud for those keeping score at home

DJF just posted likely Taylor as he missed 10 days of winter ball with a mild elbow strain

It's done. Philly is having a presser at 5:00 pm est.

The only way they move Lee to Seattle is if Doc is going to Philly. So all is well, now the wait begins.

And now the rebuilding can finally start. I'm willing to be patient as long as I see a resemblance of a plan.

Agreed. At least AA seemingly has a plan and now has some young players to build around.

But there's no way I change my sig, Roy will always be a Blue Jay!

Can't wait to see some of the embarrassingly bad attendance figures out of Toronto this year. This franchise, frankly, is at rock bottom right now. Nowhere to go but up, and here's hoping AA can pull it off.

I'd give them a chance. I like starting at rock bottom. I'd pay to go see this young, possibly exciting team than the joke that was last year's team.

Ya me too on the buying tickets this year if guys like Wallace, Snider and co make the team. Even adding some youngish depth with a guy like Hoffpauir was a move I liked. I went to a couple games last year and watching guys like Barajas, Bautista and Encarnacion play was super boring and seemed pointless, they are like the Clark Wilm's of MLB. You have zero expectations that they will ever get better or succeed against the Yankees and Red Sox.

I'd rather watch young and bad with some hope vs. old and bad.

They have some good young hitters and pitchers to build around now. Which is exciting for a team in such a heavy re-building phase.

Lind, Snider, Wallace (if he makes the team), Hill, Romero, Cecil, Marcum....
