So that makes the pot $750. What is the breakdown for winner(s) and rake?

No rake - I'm not trying to make a profit - not to mention, keep it legal. If 15 show, would probably pay 3...

It always nice to have more but as Vlad mentioned my townhouse setup and the tables i do have its going to be a bit cramped as it is.
I have a good lead on a community hall if this is a success and the numbers swell and then the buy in would have to include the hall rental but for this initial game all buy in money goes straight to payouts.

Sorry. I meant rake as in, aren't we putting a small percentage of each tournament towards the end grand prize of that trip to Vegas?

Any plans on possibly holding these on weeknights?
or setting up some CP poker or maybe just a straight tournament with no holdback for the WSOP?

I was thinking we'd do one first just to see how it works without any WSOP rake, and then decide how we want to proceed... Kind of a trial run to see how we all get along, to see who the mechanics are...

Cant speak for everyone but i imagine the turnouts wouldnt be as great during the weekdays, but im sure it wouldnt be a problem weekdays drew enough interest.
We are just in the initial stages of trying to get a good core group, so im sure the WSOP idea will come to fruition once we have a regular turnout nailed down.

Weird, usually I've found the opposite is true, people are a awful lot more likely to have plans for the weekend then say for wednesday or thursday night.

Speaking for myself, I am up at 5 and in bed by 10, but I am prepared to listen to suggestions that I abandon law and play poker during the day...

Okay well like i said i have no issues if someone wants to try a weekday game, my experiences are most like the weekend as if the games run into the wee hours of the morning they arent bagged/hungover for work the next day.

That was the plan. Frankly, I am flexible, and don't care much either way, but I thought for first run-through, KISS.

We can even make it $55. $50 for the buy in and everyone has a $5 chip. If you knock someone out you give them a $5 chip. Even if you have more then one $5 chip, you only give one.
Just a thought.
I'm flexible too. I wouldn't mind an option for rebuys for the first two blind raises (if we are raising blinds every 15 minutes, then rebuys allowed for the first 30 minutes).
But KISS is a good idea

I have no issues with it one way or the other either, but we would need quite a few chips for this, i have a set and Vlad said hed bring his, im thinking a third set would probably be needed as well.
I was thinking no rebuys for the first try though, we can always start a cash game on one of the tables after the numbers dwindle in the tourney.

I have some chips also, as well as a folding poker tabletop.
I favour a freezeout. It levels the playing field--my experience is that rebuys allow people with more cash in their pocket to be over-aggressive.

I think Vlad said hed bring his poker tabletop and my other table is already a poker table, when you get a chance Vlad can you update me on the numbers?
I hope you guys like getting cozy, and everyone wears deodorant!

There are ways around it, such as lowering the buy-in and limiting the number of re-buys, but I want to stick to a straight freezeout the first time - this is more for everyone to meet - I don't want to count re-buys to make sure the numbers square.

So I told my wife last night that I was going to some dude's house from the internet that I've never met to play cards with over a dozen others that I've never met.
She was just like........."okay, have fun"
