I noticed this too. My wife was holding our little guy at the time and I think she had a very hard time with the scene. Not that it wouldn't be hard for people not in that situation, but it definitely got to us in a way it wouldn't have last year. Quick heads-up to any dads to be: fatherhood turns you into a blubbering vagina. I get choked up 100x's more than I used to.
Shame Rita actress lady dropped that comment in the interview. That's not cool. I don't like the "watch this episode because somethings going to happen that you'll never see coming!". I always think of something unexpected and it ends up happening.
Whe I was a youngin I loved Robin Hood: Prince of Theives (commense judgement). Costner did "The Bodyguard" after that. I wanted to see it because robin hood created a strange man-crush on Costner (you may continue judging, or start a new judging session). Before sitting down to watch it, my dad (who'd seen it on an airplane) says "he dies at the end." knowing full well he wouldn't say that if it was truthful, the end bothered me because I knew damn well nothing was going to happen to him. That was the start of my spoiler sensitivity. Yes I see the irony of spoiling the ending to "the bodyguard" ... but c'mon.

Judge? Oh no...Costner gets such a bad ride.
Open Range and Mr Brooks are two fantastic films that he's carried the last few years that won't get mentioned when people start ragging on him. Heck, I even liked The Guardian. Love me some Costner.

Oh, I forgot, the Pacific comes out in March. That'll help keep me busy too.

With Dexter and Entourage both done for now there does seem to be quite the drought for shows to watch. Although Big Love and Lost start in January/February I believe, I'm looking forward to their return.
What is the Pacific?

Band of Brothers but in the Pacific theater instead of Europe. If you have HBO Canada they show trailers for it all the time. Or just check it out on their site, I'm sure the trailer is online. In fact I think there is probably a CP thread, just search thread titles for pacific and you'll find it.
If you ask what BoB is then you need to get yourself to a video store right f***ing now and rent all 10 discs. Easily the best war (especially WWII) show ever put to screen. TV, film or otherwise. Seriously, if you haven't seen BoB go rent it this second. Most Blockbusters are open until midnight. Go. NOW!

I'd recommend Burn Notice for a midseason show. USA network. Might want to rent the previous seasons first. It's a fun show.

if you like serious shows that mix in comedy very well (like Dexter) then you need to check out Rescue Me. while it can be one of the darkest dramatic shows on TV, it has also got me laughing so hard in certain episodes that i thought i was gonna die

Yup I just rewatched Band of Brothers again last month, essentially an extended version of Saving Private Ryan, not surprising as Hanks is involved with both.
You mentioned Rome as well, I wish that could have lasted longer, but I guess they never intended for it to stretch out based on the pace they took. I grew up reading Asterix so it was nice to get my fill for that time period.

I believe Rome simply couldn't go on any longer because it just was too expensive. It was so costly to produce that they wanted to keep it short in hopes that they'd at least have a chance to make their money back eventually.

that would be a cop-out of magnitudes never seen before. thankfully the Dexter writers aren't like that and i have no doubt they're going to take this series in a new and awesome direction

Holy crap my pants. Awesome ending.
Dexter used to be so controlled, cautious, meticulous -- able to outthink everyone. Now he's become so sloppy and emotional. What a chump. Bring back smart Dexter.
With Rita out, I'd also like to see Cody and Astor gone next season.

You do know that there are a like 300 days until the new Dexter right?
I could watch each of those shows 10 times over and it wouldn't effect my life one bit.
Do you people not watch an hour of TV a day? That doesn't even seem like a lot. I think the NA average is more like 5 hours a day.

Based on the article I posted they are far beyond the dream thing. There is less than zero chance that it is a dream.

I just watched the season 4 finale last night and all I can say is WOW, what a season! The cast, writing and everything about this show is sheer brilliance. I don't know how I'm going to be able to wait 'til season 5.
Here are video links (part 1 and 2) of Michael C. Hall and John Lithgow discussing season 4 and how much they enjoyed working with each other.
Major SPOILER alert - aka if you haven't watched this season then don't watch the videos!

It's funny what Michael says in the above video about how when he read the final scene he felt bad for the audience. When it was done I turned to my wife and said "that was amazing, but I don't feel good". It was a hell of a thing.
I was wondering how they were going to deal with his family man persona and his killer colliding. All the sneaking off and time away would have to catch up to the character and at a point the family would have to ask more and more questions.
I thought it was interesting how everything crumbling was really due to him not following Harry's code. All season it bugged me that he wasn't following the code. He wasn't going after a criminal that the justice system failed, he was purposefully throwing them off the trail so he could have the kill. I didn't like that it was working for him ... I guess I got what I wanted in the end a little.

Nice for Dexter to get some recognition and be nominated for 3 Golden Globe awards.
Best Television Series - Drama
Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Michael C. Hall
Best Supporting Actor - John Lithgow
All well deserved in my opinion. Love Michael C. Hall as Dexter and hope he wins, but John Lithgow as Trinity was amazing! I'd be surprised if he doesn't win. He was just so believable as Trinity - I really didn't think Lithgow had it in him before I saw this season.
