I think Denver gets in. No way they do worse than 10-6. They might lose in Philly, but they get both of the AFC West's doormats at home. Denver will most likely get the 5th seed, and I think the 6th seed in the AFC will be be 9-7.

Baltimore will likely grab the 6th seed. The only loss I see on the horizon for them is possibly at Pittsburgh. Miami is in really tough for their remaining games. I just can't see them winning all three of their games, although winning 2 would give them a shot at a tiebreaker.

That win for Philadelphia was huge last night. They can clinch the NFC East with two more wins and a Dallas loss (which should happen this weekend when the Cowboys go to the Superdome).

I still think the 6th seed in the NFC is probably up for grabs. The Giants and Cowboys could easily lose their next three games, although the Giants will probably get lucky and play Minnesota's back-ups in week 17. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Minnesota drop one of their next two games to prevent this from happening.

I would trade him for Todd Haley in a heart beat.

Great bounceback for the Vikings. Put up 30 on the league's best scoring defense and hopefully with the game experience Brinkley can get better.

With the Packers winning it almost secures them that wildcard spot, hell they can still win the division is the Vikings go into meltdown mode.

And I think, barring some kind of miracle, that Philly and Dallas will be the other two teams in the NFC picture.

The AFC picture? That's not even worth discussing at this point, way too many teams still in the mix for those wildcard spots. Unreal that there are so many teams still in the mix. I really really hope that Pittsburgh doesn't make it.

The Vikings can clinch the division this weekend with a win. If the NFC finished today, the first round match-ups woud look like this:

#6 Dallas @ #3 Philadelphia
#5 Green Bay @ #4 Arizona

If Philly and Green Bay were to win, it would set up a situation where the NFC Championship game could be Green Bay @ Minnesota. I think Packer fans would riot if they lost this game.

If Green Bay and Philly won wouldn't that set up NO vs. the lowest seed??

In the second round, yes. If Green Bay were to beat the Saints in round 2, and the Vikes beat the Eagles, then the Vikings would play the Packers in the NFCCG.

You could also see GB vs. MIN in the second round if both lower seeds win in Rube's scenario.

Of the 7-6 teams, I think Jacksonville is done. Baltimore may have the easiest road of the other three but all three have a tough three game stretch.

Miami has tiebreakers on both the Jets and Jacksonville and two home games to end the season. If they can get past the Titans next week they will have a great shot IMO.

If Denver drops either of its home games it doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs anyway....so I've been assuming those two wins in all the scenarios.
Yes and no. Its a mess the playoff scenarios the Jags are steill the #6 seed today because its a 3 way tie, head to head would come into play only if Miami was tied with the jags, since miami didn't play baltimore and the jags won't play baltimore head to head is irrelavent at the moment.

The best thing for Miami is that the Jags and Pats play each other, thus eliminating one of them from Miamis book. A loss by the pats and the Dolphins winning out give them the division on tiebreaks again just like last year.

Who knows though right now it is a mess, and it could even be more messy by the end of next week-end.

Jake Locker is staying in school.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4741959

So the #1 QB taken has to be either McCoy or Clausen, right? Bradford is the best of all of them, but he's going to fall due to injury concerns. I think Tony Pike will probably end up being a steal in one of the later rounds.

It won't hurt Locker to play another year under Sarkisian. I suppose the fact that he signed on with the Angels maybe gives him a bit of financial security to take on the injury risk. I hope it works out for him and the Husky's. Should make the Pac10 pretty competitive again next year if the Husky's can field a strong squad.

Wow, he probably would have been the first QB taken, had he come out. While he's probably making the right move for his development, he's potentially throwing away millions in guaranteed money.

Great news for us Husky fans, absolutely huge for Sark to to keep him in the fold.

He might actually be making the right move financially. This year's QB class is incredibly deep, while next year's is not. IMO, Keenum and Snead are the only other QBs in next year's draft worth even considering a first-day pick for. Locker is miles ahead of those two and would command a lot more guaranteed money than he would this year.

That being said, if 2011 ends up being a lockout, then this officially becomes a terrible move.

A lockout or a new rookie salary scale, which in my opinion will be part of the next CBA.

When veteran players are disgusted by some rookie contracts, you know something might need a change.

It would seem that a rookie cap is something that NFL owners are going to push hard for. Although if Locker is in fact any good and does pan out, it shouldn't matter too much as star players who perform will get paid and get a really good second contract. I don't think he's going to be like JaMarcus and get his money and than just wait it out until he no longer has to play football and can go do whatever he wants.

Al Davis may insist that they call it the Raider rule to limit rookie guaranteed money.

Interesting bit from Peter King today for me and the Eagles fans on here.

Quote:

One other book note: Interesting postscript to the biggest play in recent Eagles history from buddies Reuben Frank and Mark Eckel in their Game Changers: The Greatest Plays in Philadelphia Eagles History: On the fourth-and-26 conversion from McNabb to Freddie Mitchell in the 2003 playoff game against Green Bay, Frank and Eckel report that the two men "despised each other,'' which is known to some. But listen to this vitriol. "Donovan hated the fact that the fans and media loved me more than him,'' said Mitchell. "He only threw me the ball when he had to.'' Linebacker Ike Reese said Mitchell "was trying to mess up our opportunity to win a ring.'' Makes you long for the days of Fred-X.

Mitchell was such a useless piece of crap.

But you can't argue that he's leaving TONS and TONS of potential guaranteed money on the table. People were saying he'd be top 3 this year, if he came out. The top pick got $41 million guaranteed and the third pick got $31 million.

There is no way, with a rookie cap, that a player would make anything remotely close to that in two contracts combined. The NFL rookies are going to turn into the NHL second contract (pre MacTavish).

But again, this is all my opinion. And it's not everyday you see a kid go back to school and leave that much on the table. Good on him?

Thanks. I was going to ask this and now that I have the answer I almost feel stupid for not knowing.

Unfortunately, it pretty much ensures he won't be the next franchise QB for the Denver Broncos. That makes me sad.
