As much as I can. I'm a big Flames fan but last night I watched 3 games. You'll find me often on the OOT Thread

Ya true there are never old guys and out of shape people playing in any other sport. Just because the demand on your body means a prolonged career does not make it any less of a sport.
People hate golf because they can't play it and/or don't understand it. Exact same reason why the NHL can't get people in the US to watch hockey.

Hey lots of people play it and like it. and like to watch it. It doesn't mean it's a sport. It's a game that many people enjoy to watch and play.
Hmmm your post from the Tiger Woods non-transgression thread.

Golf is the hardest sport to play in the world! When you play it at the level as PGA it is a sport, when its a weekend hackfest with buddies you are not playing a sport but seeing who can hopefully break 90 after a case of beer.
I don't see how people don't classify it as a sport. What makes a golfer less of an athlete than a hockey goalie?

I wish more people hated golf.
Then maybe a guy could get on freakin good course whenever he had the chance to get a round in, and wouldn't have to sit around for ten minutes waiting to take his next shot.

So you're an NHL fan and not a hockey fan. Unless you also watch the Calgary Hitmen, Calgary Royals, Calgary Canucks, etc. When was the last midget game you watched? Was it AAA? AA?

NHL is hockey.. it's televised. I watch some WHL games whenever they're on channel 10. I attend about 8 Hitman games a year. I admit I've never seen the Royals ever. I'd watch more if it were on tv more. I see enough and try to have interest in all teams. And I come to CP to learn more.

And your point?
Golf is just as much of a sport as hockey.

I hate golf solely because of the hush whenever someone takes a shot. If you can't concentrate with a little noise in the background, you should be mocked, ridiculed, and ultimately banished to the fringes of society like the cringing worm that you are.
The lesson people should get from this is that hero worship is a bad idea always. Stop pumping ordinary people up as if they are gods - the guy can hit a golf ball better than everyone else but that isn't an accomplishment that will mean jackcrap 500 years from now, so get some perspective and invest your emotion in something worthwhile, not in the carefully designed public image of a necessarily flawed man.

I disagree. I don't doubt that Tiger Woods is athletic, but golf in general is not the best activity to showcase athletic ability.
I cannot consider golf a sport because it is so one dimensional. By that I mean the only "athletic" part of golf is swinging the club to hit the ball accurately. There is no running, catching, man to man physical play etc.
John Daly is a prime example. He is gifted at hitting a golf ball, but not "athletic" by any stretch of the imagination.
