These go for $27/hour at the cheapest from what I've seen. If everybody came out that would be OK but if it's 10-15 people, the rake again becomes prohibitive. Aside from the fact that they might object to poker with real money (though that can be circumvented). What we need is a heated garage that can hold 2 (or 3) tables.

This may be a real dumb idea but what about renting a storage space?
Theyre heated and relatively cheap, though im not sure how many people it could fit.
Obviously it needs to be paid for monthly but would probably work out cheaper if it was used twice a month and we could leave chips, table etc right there.

If you want to find out the particulars, I would be most appreciative. As long as it's lighted, heated, and can fit 2-3 tables/chairs and a beer fridge, it would work.

Just ask what the usage restrictions are, if any.

Called sp storage (By COP) they had three sizes in heated (since im not freezing trying to play cards)
6 x 10 goes for $145/mth (Probably way too small)
10 x 10 goes for $220/mth
10 x 25 goes for $350/mth
Seems like it may be a little too pricey unless like i mentioned we used it at least twice a month, asked about the usage restrictions but the secretary didnt seem to know of any, though im sure she had no idea what i was alluding to.
I could check around for other quotes but im assuming they would all be around the same price.

Wow, we're really thinking outside the box now!
Maybe the plan is a little too ambitious--co-ordinating 25 schedules might be prohibitive anyway. We might get more "hosting" volunteers if the first few games were limited to around 8 people... we could make up for that by playing more often.

Yeah, but then you get into "my wife doesn't want 10 strangers over" type issues. Anybody unfettered by spouse want to volunteer?

We're not technically gambling if there is no money exchanged on the premesis. IE, pay the entry-fee in the parking lot. At that point we might as well be a chess club.

Well we'd obviously clear it with the owner! Duh! We can't just descend on some poor doods pub and start playing! But if everyone involved is on the level then I don't see how it wouldn't work.

Sure. When I was talking to the Legion, they said we couldn't because they already have a poker league or some such... It would mean paying $5/beer instead of $1.50 but otherwise it should be OK, as long as the place is reasonably quiet and deserted.

I'm fairly certain that on, say, a Sunday afternoon we could get better pricing than $5.00/beer, although definately not as good as $1.50!!! If the owner knew that a bunch of people were arriving all at once we might be able to get a deal.
